March is here and the flag football season is well underway. This week saw plenty of action from around the country. As usual, we'll look at each governing body (NCAA, NAIA, JUCOs, etc.) and end with a small preview of next week's games. Click here to check out previous recaps for the 2026 spring season.

NCAA

The NCAA Division III Atlantic East Conference got underway last week. Eastern University (PA), Immaculata (PA), and Neumann (PA) all went 2-0 to start conference play.

  • Eastern's Kira Green threw for 496 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions in the two wins. Damiyae Moyet had 4 receiving TDs, while Kyla Massenburg had 3. The defense allowed just 51 yards in the 52-0 win over Chestnut Hill (PA) and 118 yards in the 62-6 win over Centenary (NJ).
  • Immaculata defeated Holy Family (PA) 38-0 and Marymount (VA) 12-6. Devan Cosgrove had an efficient day, going 15 of 24 passing for 210 yards, 5 TDs, and no picks. The defense recorded 6 interceptions across the two games.
  • Marymount (VA) was tabbed as the preseason favorite to win the Atlantic East, but stumbled against Immaculata, followed by a 14-0 win against Holy Family (PA). Marymount allowed only 98 yards of offense against Holy Family. The Saints went 15-0 last season, with many strong defensive performances. The defense looks like it will be a strength again in 2026.
  • Neumann posted 51-0 and 25-6 victories over Marywood (PA) and Penn State Schuylkill, respectively. Ava Valente threw for 485 yards and 11 TDs in the two wins.

The NCAA Division III United East Conference also got underway with Penn State Harrisburg posting a 55-6 win over Keystone (PA), and Gallaudet (DC) crushing Lancaster Bible (PA) by a similar score of 54-0.

  • Harrisburg's Nadia King threw for 166 yards and 6 TDs, while also recording 3 interceptions. Jordan Carpenter led the receivers with 2 catches for 86 yards and 2 TDs, and had an interception.
  • Gallaudet saw Gianna Visco and Shaelyn Johnson throw for 3 touchdowns apiece, with Visco also rushing for a score. Citrine Lummer had 5 catches for 66 yards and 2 touchdowns, along with 2 interceptions and 3 pass breakups on defense.

The Chicago Bears hosted the Halas Hall Invitational for Illinois schools. A majority of those competing were NCAA Division III programs.

  • On Saturday, Aurora (IL) defeated North Park 59-20 and Rockford 33-0. Kaylin Morgan threw for 599 yards with 9 touchdown passes and 1 interception, plus another TD on the ground. Clare Strong had 11 catches for 278 yards and 5 touchdowns in the two wins. North Park's Janiya Greenfield had only 16 completions, but those went for 317 yards, 3 TDs, and 4 picks in the loss.
  • On Sunday, Illinois Wesleyan won the day's mini tournament by defeating DuPage (NJCAA) 22-6 and Illinois College 27-19 in the final. IWU built a 21-7 lead in the second half, but Illinois College battled back to cut it to 21-19 at the end of the third quarter. A defensive final stanza saw IWU's Emma Caniglia step in front of a pass, navigate down the sideline, juke potential tacklers, and waltz into the end for a pick six.

NAIA

The IFFA Tournament in Tampa, Florida, was the big event this week, with teams from all around the country playing. Many of these games involved the Sun Conference. We'll start with Keiser (FL), which posted wins against Saint Francis (IN) 35-12 and Campbellsville (KY) 40-13. Ava Wallace threw for 521 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions in the victories.

  • Life (GA) posted two one victory last week. The Eagles won 44-14 at home against Graceland (IA), as Cheyenne Brooks threw for 342 yards, 4 touchdowns, and no interceptions. Life also "defeated" Florida Gateway in a scrimmage 25-19, but the athletic site doesn't count that as a victory.
  • Point (GA) split its two games, losing 19-13 to Huntingdon (AL) in double overtime after rallying from a 13-0 deficit. The Skyhawks defeated Alabama State 27-14 in their other game over the weekend.
  • Thomas (GA) had the closest slate of games over the weekend. The Night Hawks lost 8-7 to Saint Francis (IN), defeated Siena Heights 14-12, and lost 12-6 in overtime to Webber International (FL).
  • Warner (FL) continues to put up eye-popping numbers to start the 2026 season. The Royals are 6-0 and have yet to give up any points. This past week featured an 83-o win over Campbellsville (KY), a 65-0 win over Florida Memorial, and a 66-0 victory over Siena Heights (MI). Warner is currently averaging 73.5 points per game.
  • Webber International (FL) continued its perfect start with victories over Thomas (GA) 12-6 in overtime, Campbellsville (KY) 27-19, and Florida Memorial 38-0

In conference play, the KCAC saw Ottawa (KS) get back on track with a pair of shutouts over Bethel (KS) 78-0 and Southwestern (KS) 43-0. Anna Anderson had 10 touchdown passes in the two victories, and Alyssa Linkous had 6 touchdown catches. In other action:

  • Baker (KS) defeated Saint Mary (KS) 52-0, with the Wildcats having 150 yards rushing. Ava Alvarez, Jaidyn Keith, Mahogonay Simmons, and Tara Llorente recorded rushing touchdowns.
  • Kansas Wesleyan dispatched Midland (NE) 39-7. Chihiro Iwata threw for 325 yards and 5 touchdowns, while adding another 55 yards and a score on the ground.
  • William Woods (MO) bounced back from its season-opening 7-0 loss to defeat Bethel (KS) 37-0. Shamya Williams threw four TD passes, while all five wide receivers recorded a TD reception.
  • Graceland (IA) did not play any KCAC, but opened the season in the Eastern US with a 57-18 win at Cumberland (TN). Graceland would lose the following two games to Life (GA) 44-14 and a tougher one to Reinhardt (GA) 25-19. The Yellowjackets rallied to tie the game at 19 with 3:30, before a Reinhardt TD with 63 seconds remaining proved to be the difference.

Other quick hits from around the NAIA:

  • Milligan (TN) moved to 7-0 overall by defeating three NCAA teams last week: Ferrum 26-14 on Wednesday, followed by Emmanuel (37-7) and LaGrange (42-0) on Saturday.
    • Bridget Keyser threw for 881 yards, 12 TDs, and 3 interceptions in the three wins. She added two rushing TDs as well. Krista Quinn recorded 22 catches for 235 yards and 4 TDs. Lilly Rumrill had 13 catches for 175 yards and 4 TDs in the Ferrum and LaGrange victories.
  • Saint Francis (IN) defeated #8 Thomas (GA) 8-7 and Florida Memorial 59-31, while dropping games to Keiser (FL) 35-12 and St. Thomas (FL) 32-20.

JUCOs and Other Governing Bodies

Florida Gateway (NJCAA) continued its hot streak from the big wins at the end of February by defeating the NAIA's Point (GA) and fellow NJCAA member North Central Missouri. The week ended with a 25-19 loss at NAIA Life (GA), which FGC has marked as a loss on its website. On Life's website, it's noted as a scrimmage without a result (as of this posting).

Nevada State is off to a flying start this year. The Scorpions are 8-0 and this past week saw them win all four games by a combined margin of 260-0. NSU is not affiliated with a governing body, which has led to them playing club, NCAA, and NAIA programs, but it hasn't stopped them from decimating their opponents so far.

Irvine Valley (CA) dropped its first game of the season during the 32-12 loss against Ventura (CA), but the Lasers swept all three games at the MiraCosta Tournament to move to 8-1 overall. Saddleback (CA) moved to 12-0 overall by also sweeping its three games at the MiraCosta tournament. Irvine Valley and Saddleback are scheduled to meet at the end of March.

The Week Ahead

NAIA programs Saint Francis (IN) and Siena Heights (MI) will continue their Florida trip by taking on Sun Conference opponents to start the week. KCAC teams will be in action for conference games on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The ECAC teams will have a slew of games on Wednesday, March 11. The 3C2A programs will make up a bulk of the schedule for Thursday, March 12. Nevada State will also face La Sierra (CA) on Thursday as it looks to continue its high-scoring performances. Friday will feature NCAA, NAIA, and JUCO programs as we head into another action-packed weekend.

On Saturday, March 14, just about every conference will have matchups taking place: the NAIA's KCAC, GSAC, and Sun, along with the NCAA's Atlantic East and Conference Carolinas. The NJCAA will have non-conference games taking place in Pratt, Kansas.
