El Camino, Goldey-Beacom Add Flag Football

Two more schools have announced the addition of women's flag football. El Camino College (CA) confirmed in an email to Collegiate Flag Football that the school anticipates a start date in the 2026-27 academic year for a varsity team. El Camino will have a club team for the 2025-26 academic year. Goldey-Beacom College (DE) announced on August 7 that it will also compete starting in the 2026-27 academic year.
El Camino College is located near Los Angeles in Torrance, California. The Warriors are a member of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), also known as the 3C2A. El Camino is the second California school to announce the addition of flag football in the previous week, following Cal Poly. California is expected to have at least 18 flag football teams competing in the 2025-26 academic year, with the possibility of more 3C2A teams joining as well.
Goldey-Beacom is located in Wilmington, Delaware and is a member of the NCAA Division II Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. Three other CACC schools currently sponsor flag football: Chestnut Hill College (PA), Holy Family University (PA), and Post University (CT). Caldwell University (NJ) hasn't made an official announcement, but is likely to add the sport for 2026-27 as well. With five anticipated members for 2026-27, the CACC could become one of the next NCAA conferences to sponsor the sport.
Flag football is continuing to grow rapidly. The 2025-26 academic year is expected to see more than 220 club or varsity teams compete, including more than 100 new programs. The 2027 spring season is still a year and a half away, but over two dozen schools will begin competing, including:
The six American Southwest Conference schools, Albright (PA), Blackburn (IL), Cal Poly (CA) Camden (NJ), Defiance (OH), El Camino (CA), Goldey-Beacom (DE), Guilford (NC), Jackson State Community College (TN), Lourdes (OH), Meredith (NC), Minnesota North-Vermilion (MN), Northwestern Ohio (OH), Oklahoma Wesleyan (OK), RCSJ-Cumberland (NJ), Ripon (WI), Roxbury CC (MA) Saint Mary (NE), Saginaw Valley State (MI), UT Arlington (TX), and Westminster (MO).
