Dallas College Adding Women's Flag Football
Dallas College and six of its campuses will add varsity women's flag football beginning with the 2026-27 academic year. The six DAC schools that will launch programs and begin competing in the 2027 spring season are Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, Mountain View, North Lake, and Richland.
All six schools are part of the Dallas Athletic Conference and compete in the NJCAA. Two other NJCAA conferences sponsor flag football: the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) and the Florida College Systems Activities Association (FCSAA).
The NJCAA is set for tremendous growth in the 2026-27 academic year. Alexandria Technical and Community College (MN), Camden County College (NJ), Central Alabama Community College, Dawson Community College (MT), Enterprise State Community College (AL), Jackson State Community College (TN), Massasoit Community College (MA), Murray State College (OK), Rowan College of South Jersey-Cumberland (NJ), Rowan College of South Jersey-Gloucester (NJ), Richard Bland College (VA), Southern Union State Community College, and St. Clair County Community College (MI) are set to launch programs for next season.
With at least 20 new flag football teams, the NJCAA is expecting more than 30 programs to compete in the 2027 spring season. The 2026 spring campaign saw Florida Gateway College capture its fourth straight title, but only one invitational tournament remains. Beginning with the 2027-28 academic year, the NJCAA will add women's flag football as a championship sport.
The 2026-27 NJCAA women's flag football season will get underway at the end of August when the Alabama Community College Conference begins conference play. The Dallas College teams will compete in the spring, with the possibility of postseason play. The 2027 NJCAA Women's Flag Football Invitational will be held at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
