We will look at the various stories and happenings across the sport over the last week, between Monday, July 27, and Sunday, August 2, 2026. 3 Additions This Week
Dawson Community College (MT) will add a varsity women's flag football team for the 2026-27 academic year.
Massasoit Community College (MA) will add a women's flag football club team for the 2026-27 academic year. The school will elevate the team to varsity status in 2027-28.
St. Lawrence University (NY) will add a varsity women's flag football program beginning with the 2027-28 academic year.
2026-27 Scheduling News
The NJCAA's Alabama Community College Conference released its schedule for the 2026 fall season. The season will begin at the end of the month on Thursday, August 27, with North Alabama and Calhoun Community College playing an exhibition game. The conference slate will start on Sunday, August 30, with six games. The regular season will wrap up on Sunday, November 8, with a quartet of games.
In other scheduling news, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX) is seeking opponents at the end of February 2027. Those interested should reach out to head coach Jay Osborne. More details are provided below.
Dates: Any days between Wednesday, February 17 and Saturday, February 27, with a preference for Saturday, February 20 and Saturday, February 27.
Location: Home or away, with a preference to stay in the southern US.
Contract: Yes
Opponents: Tri-match is optional, and UMHB is willing to play any varsity or club team from the NAIA, NCAA, and NJCAA.
Details: Return trip preferred, with a 2-year agreement possible.
Bryant & Stratton Named NJCAA Academic Team of the Year
Bryant & Stratton College in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, was named the NJCAA's Flag Football Academic Team of the Year for 2025-26. The Bobcats posted a team GPA of 3.62. Bryant & Stratton competed at the 2026 NJCAA Women's Flag Football Invitational, finishing third.

Alverno University (WI) posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. Alverno will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.

Bethany College (WV) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. NEW THIS WEEK: Binghamton University (NY) named Jeff Melesky as the inaugural head coach for the women's flag football program. Melesky previously coached at the NAIA's Webber International University (FL), building the program from its inception in 2021. Melesky went 65-45 overall and 25-28 in conference games, reaching the postseason in five of his six seasons. Webber won the Women's College Flag Finals over Alabama State this past season. Binghamton will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
Bowling Green State University (OH) is seeking a wide receiver and defensive back coach for its women's flag football club team for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should reach out via the team's social media account.

The Guimond Vukovic Group (GVG) is offering postgraduate opportunities for athletes seeking a one-year master's degree in the United Kingdom. Scholarship opportunities are available for students with a GPA of 2.8 or higher. Athletes who wish to continue playing collegiate flag football, develop programs, build the sport internationally, or pursue coaching opportunities are encouraged to apply. GVG offers a free service to connect student-athletes with partner institutions in the U.K. The FAQ section on GVG's website provides additional information. This postgraduate opportunity is in the United Kingdom.

NEW THIS WEEK: Howard Payne University (TX) named Erick Jimenez as head coach of the women's flag football team. Jimenez has been active in the El Paso, Texas, football community, including helping launch a six-man tackle football team. HPU is scheduled to launch its program in the 2026-27 academic year.

Montgomery County Community College (PA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Montco has not officially announced the addition of a varsity women's flag football program.
Moorpark College (CA) posted a job description for a women's flag football head coach position. Moorpark announced a new program at the end of June.
North Greenville University (SC) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. North Greenville will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.

Saddleback College (CA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. Rick Brail was the head coach for the past two seasons.
Saginaw Valley State University (MI) posted the job description for a women's flag football graduate assistant position. SVSU will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Saint Joseph's College of Maine named Kayla Pierce as the inaugural head coach of the women's flag football program. Pierce previously coached the women's rugby team at Robert Morris University (PA) since August 2024, and has been active in flag football with the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers and Slippery Rock University (PA). Saint Joseph's will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
San Bernardino Community College District (CA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. The position will be for either San Bernardino Valley College or Crafton Hills College. Neither school has officially announced the launch of a flag football program.
Shaw University (NC) posted the job description for a women's flag football assistant coaching position. Shaw will add women's flag football beginning with the 2026-27 academic year.
Simpson University (CA) is seeking women's flag football assistant coaches for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should contact head coach Jose Sanchez at jsanchez@simpsonu.edu.

Tiffin University (OH) posted the job description for a women's flag football club team head coaching position. Tiffin has not officially announced a flag football program. The school also has posted a description for the men's flag football club team opening.
Union College of Union County (NJ) posted job descriptions for a women's flag football head coach and an assistant coach. UCNJ has not yet announced the addition of a women's flag football program.
United States Sports University (AL) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching vacancy. USSU hasn't officially announced a flag football program.
NEW THIS WEEK: The University of Bridgeport (CT) posted the job description for a women's flag football assistant coach. Bridgeport will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
The University of Mount Olive (NC) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should submit an application, resume, and a minimum of three references to head coach Derrick Lucas at dlucas@umo.edu.
University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a Director of Operations for the women's flag football program. Nebraska is planning to play its first varsity season in the 2027-28 academic year.
The University of Nevada is seeking a volunteer head coach for its women's flag football program. Those interested should reach out to the team via social media or email Jordan Katz at jordankatz@unr.edu. Nevada will compete as a club team beginning with the 2026-27 academic year.
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking volunteer coaches for the 2026-27 academic year. UNC Greensboro will have a club team.
The University of North Texas at Dallas posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. UNT Dallas will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: The University of Oklahoma named Anthony Jackson as the head coach for the women's flag football club team.
University of Redlands (CA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Tatum Etchegoyen-Springer previously led Redlands to a 15-14 overall record in the last two seasons.
The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is seeking an assistant flag football coach for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should contact head coach Deante Jefferson at jeffersond@uwosh.edu.
NEW THIS WEEK: Webber International University (FL) head coach Jeff Melesky will depart to become the head coach at Binghamton University (NY). Melesky led Webber since its inception in 2021, going 65-45 overall, 25-28 in conference games, and competing in the postseason in five of his six seasons. Webber announced that Collin Johnson will be the program's next head coach, after previously coaching flag football at Strawberry Crest High School in Dover, Florida.
Westfield State University (MA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Westfield State will launch a club team for the 2026-27 academic year and transition the team to varsity status in 2027-28.
William Penn University (IA) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should reach out to head coach Lamaar Thomas at lamaar.thomas@wmpenn.edu.
Four UTA Players to Compete at IFAF World Championships
Four players from the University of Texas at Arlington will compete at this year's 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships. Quarterback Tessa Davis and wide receiver Amelie Prosser-Shaw will compete for Australia, center/wide receiver Tomoyo Yagi will compete for Japan, and wide receiver/defensive back Laura Hernandez-Sanchez will represent Spain. The IFAF World Championships will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany from Thursday, August 13, through Sunday, August 16. The top two teams from the men's and women's brackets will automatically qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Inside Higher Ed Looks at Flag Football's Growth
In a recent article, Inside Higher Ed takes a closer look at the growth of women's college flag football. Part of the sport's rapid growth has been due to the backing from the National Football League. The NFL has committed millions to build up the youth level via NFL FLAG, while also pushing to get the sport sanctioned at the high school level in 23 states. Colleges have also added it as a way to boost enrollment and remain compliant with Title IX.
NAIA Tweaks Seldom Used Eligibility Bylaw
The NAIA has adopted a new interpretation of an infrequently used eligibility bylaw for women's flag football. Beginning with the 2026-27 academic year, any player who participates in a professional-level women's tackle football league will be charged with a full season of eligibility. The athlete will also require additional evaluation to ensure they meet the NAIA amateurism legislation. A similar ruling has been made for the men's tackle football bylaw, with respect to sprint football participation.
NFL FLAG Championships Viewership Soars
The 2026 NFL FLAG Championships saw a significant increase in viewership compared to last year. The Boys U14 Championship averaged 631,000 viewers, while the Girls High School Championship had a record 1.12 million viewers (a 46% increase from 2025). ESPN showed 30 games across all its platforms in 2026, up from the 22 games shown in 2025. For all three days, 14.3 million viewers tuned into the NFL FLAG Championships.
TMRW Sports Selects Venue Design Firm, SVP for Operations
TMRW Sports named Populous as the architect for the venue that will host the first professional flag football season. The inaugural season will use a modular venue and a single-host city, but the location hasn't been determined. TMRW announced that Transwestern will be overseeing the host city selection process.
TMRW also announced that Champ Kelly will be the senior vice president of flag football for the new professional flag football leagues. Kelly was an NFL front office executive for nearly two decades for the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders and Miami Dolphins. The pro flag football leagues are expected to launch in "late spring-summer" of 2027.
Future Flag Football Camps and Clinics

The camps and clinics are listed in chronological order, from earliest to latest. The listed times are specific to that school's time zone.
California Lutheran University will host a flag football youth camp from Monday, August 3, through Thursday, August 6. The camp will be held on campus at William Rolland Stadium in Thousand Oaks, California, daily from 9 AM to 12 PM. The camp is open to girls ages 10 to 14.
Mount Saint Mary College (NY) will host girls youth flag camp half-days on Monday, August 3, Tuesday, August 4, and Wednesday, August 5. The half-day camps will run from 9 AM to 12 PM, are open to girls 9 to 13, and will be held on campus in Newburgh, New York.
Olivet Nazarene University (IL) will host a flag football skills and drills camp from Monday, August 3, through Wednesday, August 5. Coed camps will run from 4 to 4:50 PM and 5 to 5:50 PM daily for athletes in grades 5 through 8. A girls-only high school camp will run from 6:30 to 8 PM daily. The camp will be held on campus at Snowbarger Field in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Those interested can register here.

Benedictine University Mesa (AZ) will host a college and youth showcase on Saturday, August 7, from 6 to 8 PM. The showcase is open to athletes in grades 5 through 12. The showcase will be held on campus at the Benedictine Athletic Facility (PEC) in Mesa, Arizona.
California Lutheran University will host a women's flag football elite recruiting camp on Friday, August 7, from 9 AM to 12 PM. The camp is open to high school graduates in the classes of 2027 and 2028, as well as transfer athletes. The camp will be held on campus in Thousand Oaks, California.
Wittenberg University (OH) will host Tiger Day on Friday, August 7, from 10 AM to 1 PM. The day will take place at Benham Pence Student Center in Springfield, Ohio.
Illinois Wesleyan University will host a girls flag football summer clinic on Saturday, August 8, from 9 AM to 1 PM. The clinic is open to athletes in 9th through 12th grade and will be held on campus in Bloomington, Illinois.
Mount Saint Mary College (NY) will host a second girls flag football prospect day on Saturday, August 8, from 9 to 11 AM. The camp is open to high school players and will be held on campus in Newburgh, New York.
North American University (TX) will host a women's flag football showcase on Saturday, August 8, from 9 AM to 1 PM. The showcase is open to 2026, 2027, and 2028 graduates, as well as transfers and unsigned athletes. The showcase will take place at Dulles High School in Sugar Land, Texas.
Olivet Nazarene University (IL) will host a girls flag football showcase on Saturday, August 8, from 8 to 9:30 AM and a second showcase from 11 AM to 12:30 PM. The showcase is open to athletes in grades 9 through 12 and will be held on campus at Ward Field in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Those interested can register here.
SUNY Geneseo (NY) will host a flag football ID camp on Saturday, August 8, from 12 to 3 PM. The camp is open to athletes in grades 8 through 12 and college freshmen. The camp will take place on campus at 1 College Circle in Geneseo, New York.
William Smith College (NY) will host a girls flag football ID camp on Sunday, August 9, from 11:30 AM to 3 PM. The camp is open to athletes in grades 9 through 12 and will be held on campus at Boswell Field in Geneva, New York.
Lewis University (IL) will host a Future Flyer Skills Camp on Saturday, August 15, from 11 AM to 2 PM. The camp is open to athletes in grades 8 through 12 and will be held on campus at Turf Field 2 in Romeoville, Illinois.

SCAD Savannah (GA) will host a women's flag football skills camp on Saturday, August 15, from 12 to 2 PM. The camp is open to athletes in grades 8 through 12 and will be held at the SCAD Athletics Complex in Hardeeville, South Carolina.
Post University (CT) will host a women's flag camp on Sunday, August 16, from 10 AM to 3 PM. The camp is open to middle and high school athletes. The camp will be held on campus at Lamoy Field in Waterbury, Connecticut.
Lewis University (IL) will host a Flyer Flag Football ID Camp on Saturday, August 22, from 11 AM to 2 PM. The camp is open to athletes in grades 8 through 12 and will be held on campus at Turf Field 2 in Romeoville, Illinois.
Laurentian University (Canada) will host an elite flag football ID camp on Sunday, August 23, from 1:30 to 4:30 PM. The camp is open to athletes in high school and college. The camp will take place on campus in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.
NEW THIS WEEK: The University of Georgia will host a youth flag football clinic on Sunday, August 23, from 1 to 3 PM. The clinic is open to athletes ages 8 to 14 and will be held at North Oconee High School in Bogart, Georgia. Interested athletes can sign up here.
Randy Phillips will host a free women's college flag football showcase on Saturday, August 29, from 9:30 AM to 12 PM. Phillips is the head coach at Roxbury Community College (MA), and the showcase will be attended by Dean College (MA) and Post University (CT). The showcase will take place in Central Falls, Rhode Island.
Freed-Hardeman University (TN) will host a speed, agility, and skills camp on Saturday, August 29, from 9 AM to 12:30 PM. The camp is open ot girls in grades 2 through 12 and boys in grades 2 through 8. The camp will be held on campus in Henderson, Tennessee.
The University of Michigan will host a girls flag football summer camp on Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, from 1 to 6 PM. The camp is open to athletes ages 11 through 18 and will be held at Hubbard Field in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Elmira College (NY) will host a flag football prospect day on Sunday, September 13, from 10 AM to 3 PM. The camp is open to 9th through 12th graders and will be held on campus at the football field in Elmira, New York.
Lawrence University (WI) will host a women's flag football visit day on Saturday, September 19. Lawrence will spend the 2026-27 academic year recruiting, followed by competition in 2027-28.
Lindsey Wilson University (KY) will host a flag football elite showcase on Saturday, September 26, from 10 AM to 2 PM. The showcase is open to athletes in grades 6 through 12 and will be held on campus at Parnell Family Stadium in Columbia, Kentucky.

Norco College (CA) will host the Real Ones Only Girls Flag Football Showcase Camp on Saturday, December 5. The camp will take place from 9 AM to 2 PM on campus in Norco, California. Arizona Christian University, Benedictine University Mesa (AZ), Hope International University (CA), La Sierra University (CA), Nevada State University, Our Lady of the Lake University (TX), Purdue University Northwest (IN), Simpson University (CA), and Westcliff University (CA) are slated to be in attendance.
The International Flag League (formerly USA Flag) will host its 2027 National Championships in Tampa, Florida, on MLK weekend in January 2027. The dates are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, January 13, 2027, through Sunday, January 17, 2027.
The International Flag League (formerly USA Flag) will host its 2027 World Championships in Los Angeles, California, from Thursday, July 8, 2027, through Sunday, July 11, 2027. A collegiate division will be competing for the first time at the 2027 championships.
