NFL Pro Flag Football Leagues Venue Concept Revealed
Additional details about the NFL's first professional flag football season have been revealed. Sports Business Journal detailed a venue concept that the teams will compete in when the league launches in 2027. The inaugural pro flag football league will use a temporary structure and will be staged in one city.
The location for the first season was not disclosed, while future seasons will see the league expand to additional locations. The report also stated that $160 million is being invested in the professional flag football leagues, but an estimate of the modular venue's cost was not provided.
The NFL first announced the men's and women's professional flag football leagues in 2025, with the initial investment approved in December. The NFL originally stated it wanted to launch leagues in the run-up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. In March 2026, the NFL announced that TMRW Sports would serve as the operator of the pro flag leagues.
Details regarding the leagues have been slowly unveiled in recent months. In May, NFL Executive Vice President Peter O'Reilly said the leagues would launch in "late spring-summer" of 2027. The flag football leagues plan to have a combine and a draft, similar to the NFL.
TMRW Sports also announced several partnerships with other flag football entities. TMRW and the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) announced a strategic partnership in mid-June, seeking to have connected pathways, common standards, complementary calendars, and coordinated talent identification and approaches to fan engagement. TMRW also announced an ambassadorship with US Women's National Flag Football Team member Ashlea Klam to help grow the sport.
Several details regarding the leagues have yet to be confirmed, including a league name, a logo, the format (5-on-5, 7-on-7, etc.), the location for the first season, the number of teams competing in the inaugural season, the length and structure of the season, and broadcast partners.
