NJCAA Makes Women's Flag Football a Championship Sport
The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) voted to make women's flag football a championship sport beginning with the 2027-28 academic year. The NJCAA selected the College of DuPage (IL) as the host for the final invitational in spring 2027.
GLIAC Adds Women's Flag Football
The NCAA Division II Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced it will sponsor women's flag football beginning with the 2026-27 academic year. The GLIAC announced five teams for the 2027 spring season and will add a sixth for 2028.
3 Additions This Week, 2 Club Changes, 1 Possibility
Coppin State University (MD) will add a women's flag football club team for the 2026-27 academic year and transition to a varsity team in 2027-28. Coppin State is one of four MEAC schools to offer a club team.
Duke University's (NC) women's flag football team is officially a club sport.
Henderson State University (AR) will add women's flag football beginning with the 2027-28 academic year. HSU is the first NCAA Division II GAC school to add a club or varsity team.
Iona University (NY) will compete in the NCFA for the 2026-27 academic year. The NCFA has announced 16 club teams for its inaugural season in the 2026-27 academic year.
Morgan State University (MD) will consider adding women's flag football in the 2026-27 academic year after the 2026 Fall semester starts.
Norfolk State University (VA) will add a varsity women's flag football program. Norfolk State is the second school from the NCAA Division I MEAC to add a varsity team.

Albright College (PA) posted the job description for an assistant women's flag football coaching position. Albright named Eric Martin as head coach in September 2025, and the team will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
Alverno University (WI) posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. Alverno will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
Arizona Christian University is seeking a defensive coordinator for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should submit a resume, cover letter, and any relevant coaching materials to head coach Michael Maccagnano at michael.maccagnano@arizonachristian.edu.
Bethany College (WV) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Binghamton University (NY) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Binghamton will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
Campbellsville University (KY) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should contact head coach Spencer McCown at psmccown@campbellsville.edu.
Charleston Southern University (SC) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should contact head coach Angela Villarreal-Ortiz via email at flagfootball@csuniv.edu.
Clemson University (SC) is seeking a head coach for its women's flag football club team. Those interested can fill out the form here.
NEW THIS WEEK: Concordia University Texas named Chris Chacon as the program's next head coach. Chacon serves as the associate head coach for the girls flag football team at Lehman High School in nearby Kyle, Texas. Chacon will replace Keenan Hughes, who went 5-6 during Concordia's first season this past spring. Concordia will begin competing in the NCAA D-III SCAC in the 2026-27 academic year.

D'Youville University posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. The Saints went 2-8 overall in the inaugural flag football season this past spring under Jeff Weiss.

NEW THIS WEEK: Gardner-Webb University (NC) named Troy Kruse and Rene Elizondo Jr. as assistant coaches for the women's flag football team. Kruse was an assistant at Lees-McRae College (NC) for the 2026 season, while Elizondo was the co-offensive coordinator and Director of Recruiting for Grand Canyon University's (AZ) club team in 2026.
Gettysburg College (PA) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coach. Gettysburg will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.

The Guimond Vukovic Group (GVG) is offering postgraduate opportunities for athletes seeking a one-year master's degree in the United Kingdom. Scholarship opportunities are available for students with a GPA of 2.8 or higher. Athletes who wish to continue playing collegiate flag football, develop programs, build the sport internationally, or pursue coaching opportunities are encouraged to apply. GVG offers a free service to connect student-athletes with partner institutions in the U.K. The FAQ section on GVG's website provides additional information. This postgraduate opportunity is in the United Kingdom.
Hartwick College (NY) posted a job description for an assistant coaching position on the women's flag football team.
Hastings College (NE) is seeking a volunteer assistant coach for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should send a resume to head coach De'Andre Robinson at deandre.robinson@hastings.edu.
Hawaii Pacific University posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. HPU will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
Hawaii Pacific University posted a job description for an assistant coaching position on the women's flag football team.
Howard Payne University (TX) posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. HPU is scheduled to launch its program in the 2026-27 academic year.
Indiana Wesleyan University is seeking assistant coaches for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should reach out to Jeff Reyes at jeff.reyes@indwes.edu. IWU will begin competing in the NAIA during the 2026-27 academic year.

Marywood University (PA) posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Marywood played its first season in spring 2026, going 0-16 overall.

Messiah University (PA) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coach. Messiah has not officially announced the launch of a flag football program.
Montgomery County Community College (PA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Montco has not officially announced the addition of a varsity women's flag football program.
Moorpark College (CA) posted a job description for a women's flag football head coach position. Moorpark hasn't officially announced a new women's flag football team.
NEW THIS WEEK: Norfolk State University (VA) named Darryl Bullock as the inaugural head coach of the varsity women's flag football program. Norfolk State also named Brandon Harris as an assistant coach and Joy Colden-Hepbourn as the Director of Flag Football Operations. NSU is planning to compete in the 2027 spring season.
NEW THIS WEEK: Oklahoma Wesleyan University (VA) named Samuel Pittman as the flag football team's head coach. Darian Pleasant was previously in charge of the program.
Pasadena City College (CA) is seeking an assistant coach for the women's flag football team. Those interested should reach out to head coach Charles Oakley at coakley2@pasadena.edu. PCC will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
Saginaw Valley State University (MI) posted the job description for a women's flag football graduate assistant position. SVSU will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Saint Joseph's College of Maine posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. SJC will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.

Trenholm State Community College (AL) posted the job description for a women's flag football coaching vacancy. TSCC has not officially announced the start of a flag football program.
United States Sports University (AL) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching vacancy. USSU hasn't officially announced a flag football program.
The University of Mount Olive (NC) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should submit an application, resume, and a minimum of three references to head coach Derrick Lucas at dlucas@umo.edu.
The University of Nevada is seeking a volunteer head coach for its women's flag football program. Those interested should reach out to the team via social media or email Jordan Katz at jordankatz@unr.edu. Nevada will compete as a club team beginning with the 2026-27 academic year.
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking volunteer coaches for the 2026-27 academic year. UNC Greensboro will have a club team.
The University of North Texas at Dallas posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. UNT Dallas will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Virginia Union University named DeAundra Barfield as the women's flag football coach for the 2026-27 academic year, according to the school's athletic website.
William Penn University (IA) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should reach out to head coach Lamaar Thomas at lamaar.thomas@wmpenn.edu.
William Woods University (MO) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Wisconsin Lutheran University named Kyle Kubacki as the inaugural head coach of the women's flag football program. Kubacki is also the defensive line coach for the men's football team. WLU will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
Chicago Bears Host Flag Football Summer League, UK Flag Football Finals
The NFL's Chicago Bears hosted a flag football summer league championship at Halas Hall on Saturday, June 27. The championships featured 45 teams from 8 conferences. Kenwood Academy defeated St. Charles North to win the league, with Antioch besting Harlem for third place.
The Bears also hosted a championship for 8 flag football club teams at Loughborough College in the UK. 43 teams from London, Manchester, and Midlands leagues competed to reach the 8-team championship. On hand to support the girls were Team Great Britain player Phoebe Schecter and current Bears player Josh Blackwell. The Bears have been actively building flag football in the Manchester area, recently expanding to more than 20 schools.
Grand Canyon's Elayna Moves From Track to Gridiron
Elayna Trinder enrolled at Grand Canyon University (AZ) to be a javelin thrower on the school's track & field team. Unfortunately, she was unable to continue, but it led to another path in flag football. Trinder was part of GCU's club team that competed at the inaugural Fiesta Bowl Flag Football Classic in April, and she was part of the all-tournament team. Trinder's success led her to compete at the Select Bowl last weekend, and she's also an offensive coordinator for the Shadow Ridge High School flag football team in Surprise, Arizona. Lindsey Wilson, UTA Athletes Receive RCX Scholarship
Two international flag football athletes were recipients of the 2026 Women's Falg Football International Scholarship, given by the RCX Sports Foundation. Lindsey Wilson University's Ella Snowden hails from Saskatchewan in Canada. Snowden is set to enroll at LWU this year. The second recipient was Laura Hernández Sánchez from Spain. She plays defensive back and wide receiver and is transferring from the NAIA's Kansas Wesleyan University to the University of Texas at Arlington for the 2026-27 academic year.
NCAA Division I Adjusts Eligibility Rules
NCAA Division I will have new eligibility rules beginning with the 2027-28 academic year. Under the new model, athletes will have up to five years of eligibility beginning when they enroll in college or at the start of the academic year after their 19th birthday, whichever occurs earlier. Hardships, redshirts, and waivers will be limited to exceptions for active-duty military service, pregnancy, and official religious missions.
Ohio Fully Sanctions Flag Football
The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) has fully sanctioned girls flag football as a varsity sport for the 2026-27 school year. The sport was sanctioned for a championship event for the 2026 spring season, which was won by Nordonia 20-19 over Mount Notre Dame. The OHSAA will announce dates and tournament details for the 2027 season at a later date, but one possible format could be four regional brackets and a new seeding process.
23 states have sanctioned girls varsity flag football at the high school level: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Washington, and Washington, D.C. Another 17 states have a pilot program.
Raia Brown Leads Push for Flag Football at Sacramento State
Sacramento State (CA) sophomore Raia Brown was an integral part of getting women's flag football added as a varsity sport at the school. She created a petition to add the sport, with more than 300 people signing the petition in support of her efforts. The school president and athletic director took notice of the movement and added a club team for the 2026-27 academic year. Sacramento State plans to compete at the varsity level in 2027-28. Mark Orr, athletic director at Sacramento State, said a coach will be hired in the next two months.
Three to Coach at Under Armour All-America Camp
Deliah Autry-Jones, Ky Stuppiello, and Mieke Rowe will be coaching at the Under Armour All-America Camp in Hawaii next month. Autry-Jones is a member of the US National Women's Flag Football team, while Stuppiello and Rowe are part of the University of Florida club flag football team. Stuppiello is one of the team's coaches, and Rowe plays quarterback for the Gators. The UA All-American Camp will take place on Saturday, July 4, at King Kekaulike High School in Maui.
TMRW Sports, Ashlea Klam Announce Ambassadorship
TMRW Sports announced that Ashlea Klam will be the first professional flag football ambassador. Klam has been a dominant star for the US Women's National Flag Football team and at Keiser University (FL). Klam garnered All-American honors and won the inaugural NAIA Player of the Year award this past season. She will play her senior season at Cal Poly in NCAA Division I. TMRW Sports will operate the NFL's professional flag football leagues when they launch before the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
US National Team Rosters Announced
USA Football announced the Men's and Women's Flag Football National Team rosters for the upcoming 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships. 12 players and 6 alternates were named to each roster. On the women's side, 11 current or former college flag football players were named to the main roster or as alternates. Read more about the roster and the Road to the 2028 LA Olympics here.
World Flag Series Announces Additional Athletes
The World Flag Series continues to announce athletes for its upcoming event at the end of July. Another 11 athletes were announced on social media. Adrianna Cavalotti (USA, formerly at Keiser University), Alia Pasternak (USA, currently at USC), Daniela Serrano (Mexico), Elisabeth Schmidt (Austria), Evelína Adámková (Czechia), Gisell Barba (Mexico), Kodie Fuller (Australia), Nausicaa Dell'orto (Italy), Olivia Ghosh-Swaby (Canada), Sara Masucci (USA), and Silvana Muñoz (Mexico) were announced as competitors. WFS1 will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Suncoast Credit Union Stadium in Tampa, Florida. WFS1 will feature 30 athletes from 10 countries in a 5-on-5 format. Future Flag Football Camps and Clinics

The camps and clinics are listed in chronological order, from the earliest to the latest date. The listed times are specific to that school's time zone.
Elevate (NJ) will host a flag football camp from Monday, June 29, through Thursday, July 2, led by coaches and players from Mercy University (NY) and Montclair State University (NJ). The camp will be held daily from 9 AM to 12 PM and is open to 5th through 12th graders. The camp will be held at the Garfield High School football field in Garfield, New Jersey.
Warner University (FL) and Webber International University (FL) will host a girls-only flag football camp from Tuesday, June 30, through Thursday, July 2. The camp will be held at Webber International in Babson Park, Florida.
IMG Academy (FL) and Penn State Harrisburg will host a girls flag football specialty camp from Monday, July 6, through Friday, July 10. The camp is open to athletes ages 12 through 18 and will start at 8 AM each day. This camp will be held in Bradenton, Florida.
East Texas Baptist University will host a 2027 Group Visit Day on Tuesday, July 7, with check-in starting at 1 PM. The visit day will include touring the campus and athletic facilities, meeting the coaching staff, and speaking with admissions, among other activities. Those interested can sign up here.
The University of North Alabama will host a flag football camp on Friday, July 10, from 9:30 AM to 12 PM, on campus at Cox Creek Practice Field in Florence, Alabama. The camp is open to athletes in grades 9 through 12.
The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh will host a Queens of the Gridiron Camp on Friday, July 10, 2026. The camp will take place from 11 AM to 1:30 PM at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
Warner University (FL) and Webber International University (FL) will host a girls-only flag football camp from Friday, July 10, through Monday, July 12. The camp will be held at Webber International in Babson Park, Florida.
Dallas College Richland (TX) will host a flag football prospect camp on Saturday, July 11, from 6 to 7:30 PM. The camp is open to 2026, 2027, and 2028 graduates, as well as transfer students. The camp will be held on campus at the Richland Soccer Complex #9 in Dallas, Texas. Those interested can sign up here.
East Texas Baptist University will host a flag football prospect camp on Saturday, July 11, from 9 to 11:30 AM. The camp is open to athletes in 9th through 12th grade, as well as transfer students. The camp will be held on campus at the ETBU Football Field in Marshall, Texas.
Flag Prospect Series (FL) will host a girls flag football combine event on Saturday, July 11. The combine is open to athletes in graduating classes between 2027 and 2033. The event will be held at the USF Porter Family Indoor Practice Facility in Tampa, Florida.
NEW THIS WEEK: King University (TN) will host a women's flag football ID camp on Saturday, July 11, from 12 to 4 PM. The camp is open to athletes in grades 9 through 12 and will be held on campus in Bristol, Tennessee.
Olivet Nazarene University (IL) will host a girls flag football showcase on Saturday, July 11, from 8 to 9:30 AM and a second showcase from 11 AM to 12:30 PM. The showcase is open to 9th through 12th-grade athletes and will be held on campus at Ward Field in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Those interested can register here.
The Seattle Seahawks will host a girls College Showcase on Saturday, July 11, from 11 AM to 2 PM. The showcase is open to athletes graduating between 2027 and 2030. The showcase will be held at Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton, Washington. College coaches can sign up for the showcase using this link specifically for coaches.
Thiel University (PA) will host a speed and agility clinic on Saturday, July 11, from 10 AM to 1 PM. Head coach Jon Bevier will help lead the clinic, which is open to athletes in 9th through 12th grade. The clinic will be held at the Thiel College Alumni Stadium in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh will host a She Plays Flag Camp on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The camp will take place from 11 AM to 1:30 PM at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
The National Summer Showcase (VA) will take place from Wednesday, July 15, through Friday, July 17, in Williamsburg, Virginia. The showcase is by Invitation only, but athletes can be nominated. Numerous college head coaches from across the country will attend the Showcase.
NYS Elite Athletics (NY) will host a girls flag football camp on Wednesday, July 15, from 6 to 8 PM. The camp is open to athletes in 5th through 12th grade and will be held at Total Sports Experience in Gates, New York. The camp will be attended by head coaches from D'Youville University (NY), Elmira College (NY), Hartwick College (NY), Hobart and William Smith Colleges (NY), Mercyhurst University (PA), Roberts Wesleyan University (NY), SUNY Brockport (NY), and Utica University (NY).
Run For The Legacy (MD) will host a girls flag football tournament from Wednesday, July 15, through Saturday, July 18, in Baltimore, Maryland. College coaches from across the US will attend the event, which will also include a coaches' clinic. The registration deadline is Sunday, May 31.
Meredith College (NC) will host a "Flag In the Lab" camp on Thursday, July 16, and Friday, July 17. The camp will run from 9 AM to 12 PM both days and is open to athletes from kindergarten through 12th grade. The camp will be held on campus at the Meredith College Flag Football field in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Slippery Rock University (PA) will host a girls flag football camp on Thursday, July 16, from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. The camp is open to athletes in grades 8 through 12 as of fall 2026. The camp will be held on campus at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania.
Thomas University (GA) will host a flag football individual prospect and skills camp on Friday, July 17, from 10 AM to 3 PM. The camp is open to high school athletes and will be held on campus in Thomasville, Georgia.
Unleashed (TX) will host a three-day girls flag football invitational showcase and tournament from Friday, July 17, through Sunday, July 19. Friday, July 17, will feature a 7-on-7 showcase, while Saturday and Sunday will be a 5-on-5 tournament. The three-day event will take place at the Northlake Fieldhouse in Northlake, Texas.
Emmanuel University (GA) will host a girls flag football camp on Saturday, July 18, from 9 AM to 3 PM. The camp is open to athletes aged 8 to 18. The camp will take place on campus in Royston, Georgia.
Flag Prospect Series (AL) will host a girls flag football combine event on Saturday, July 18. The combine is open to athletes in graduating classes between 2027 and 2033. The event will be held at the Jaguar Training Facility on the campus of the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama.
Montclair State University (NJ) will host a women's college flag football prospect showcase on Saturday, July 18, from 10 AM to 1 PM. The showcase will be held on campus at Sprague Field in Monclair, New Jersey. Those interested can register here.
North American University (TX) will host a women's flag football showcase on Saturday, July 18, from 9 AM to 1 PM. The showcase is open to 2026, 2027, and 2028 graduates, as well as transfers and unsigned athletes. The showcase will take place at Dulles High School in Sugarland, Texas.
Penn State Harrisburg (PA) will host a women's flag football prospect camp on Saturday, July 18, starting at 10 AM. The camp is open to high school graduates in the classes of 2026 through 2030, as well as college transfers. The camp will take place on campus in Middletown, Pennsylvania.
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference will host a Girls on the Gridiron flag football clinic on Sunday, July 19, from 5 to 7 PM. The clinic is open to athletes 12 or older, and will be held at Hughes Stadium on the campus of Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Shepherd University (WV) will host a girls flag football prospect and fundamentals camp on Sunday, July 19, from 4:30 to 7:30 PM. The camp is open to athletes in 6th through 12th grade and will be held on campus at the Ram Stadium in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Please note that the date was changed to July 19.
The University of Fort Lauderdale (FL) will host a women's flag football camp on Sunday, July 19, from 9 AM to 12 PM. The camp is open to athletes in 5th through 12th grade and will be held at Carter Park.
Olivet Nazarene University (IL) will host a flag football camp from Monday, July 20, through Wednesday, July 22. Coed camps will run from 4 to 4:50 PM and 5 to 5:50 PM daily for 5th through 8th-grade athletes. A girls only high school camp will run from 6:30 to 8 PM daily. Winston-Salem State University (NC) will host a women's flag football 7-on-7 camp on Tuesday, July 28, from 9 AM to 3 PM. The camp is open to high school teams in the 9th through 12th grade, with a maximum of 20 players per team. The camp will be held at Civitan Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
BLTS and P2P (KY) will host a girls flag football 7v7 Tournament and Showcase from Thursday, July 30, through Saturday, August 1. The event is invite-only, open to graduates from 2026 through 2030, and will be presented by the IFFA. Both the tournament and showcase will take place at Waggener High School in Louisville, Kentucky.
East Texas Baptist University will host a 2027 Group Visit Day on Friday, July 31, with check-in starting at 1 PM. Phillips is the head coach at Roxbury Community College (MA), and the showcase will be attended by Dean College (MA) and Post University (CT). The showcase will take place in Central Falls, Rhode Island.
Elmira College (NY) will host a flag football prospect day on Sunday, September 13, from 10 AM to 3 PM. The camp is open to 9th through 12th graders and will be held on campus at the campus field in Elmira, New York.
Lawrence University (WI) will host a women's flag football visit day on Saturday, September 19. Lawrence will spend the 2026-27 academic year recruiting, followed by competition in 2027-28.
Norco College (CA) will host the Real Ones Only Girls Flag Football Showcase Camp on Saturday, December 5. The camp will take place from 9 AM to 2 PM on campus in Norco, California. Arizona Christian University, Benedictine University Mesa (AZ), Hope International University (CA), La Sierra University (CA), Nevada State University, Our Lady of the Lake University (TX), Purdue University Northwest (IN), Simpson University (CA), and Westcliff University (CA) are slated to be in attendance.
The International Flag League (formerly USA Flag) will host its 2027 National Championships in Tampa, Florida, on MLK weekend in January 2027. The dates are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, January 13, 2027, through Sunday, January 17, 2027.
The International Flag League (formerly USA Flag) will host its 2027 World Championships in Los Angeles, California, from Thursday, July 8, 2027, through Sunday, July 11, 2027. A collegiate division will be competing for the first time at the 2027 championships.
