Five Towns College Adds Women's Flag Football
Five Towns College (FTC) in Dix Hills, New York, is adding a women's flag football team beginning with the 2026-27 academic year. Five Towns is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). The school also announced a host of other sporting additions alongside the flag football team.
In an email confirmation to Collegiate Flag Football, FTC's Sports Information Director Sean Kammerer confirmed the school will join three fellow North American Conference for Intercollegiate Athletics (NACIA) members in offering the sport. Bryant & Stratton College's Albany and Buffalo, New York campuses, along with Villa Maria College (NY), will also offer flag football as members of NACIA.
Five Towns becomes the ninth USCAA school to add a program. Atlantis University (FL), Bryant & Stratton College-Albany (NY), Bryant & Stratton College-Buffalo (NY), Bucks County Community College (PA), John Melvin Community College (FL), Manor College (PA), Penn State Schuylkill (PA), and Villa Maria College (NY) are the other eight USCAA members that offer flag football.
The state of New York is in a race with Florida and Pennsylvania to have the most flag football teams. With future teams included, Pennsylvania has the most at 29, followed by New York at 27, and Florida at 25. California is fourth at 22, but that number could drastically increase should additional 3C2A schools add flag football.
Over 200 schools are expected to compete at the club or varsity level during the 2025-26 academic year, and more than 100 will be new programs. Beyond 2025-26, 30 schools are committed to adding a club or varsity program in the 2026-27 academic year, highlighting the continued growth of the sport.
