Future Women's Flag Football Teams
Women's collegiate flag football has continued to grow in popularity since the first NAIA teams began competing in 2021. For the 2026 spring season, over 200 club and varsity teams will compete, including more than 85 new teams next season alone. In 2027, another half-dozen schools committed to adding a varsity program. A list of teams that will begin competing in the 2026 season is provided in the next section.
List of Future Teams
For the future varsity teams, the table below provides information related to each school and its governing body (NCAA, NAIA, etc.), the conference the flag football team competes, and the anticipated first season. Schools without a known flag football conference are classified as independent teams. The table is searchable and can be sorted by any column.
Three NCAA conferences have announced they will begin sponsoring the sport in 2026: Conference Carolinas (D-II), Empire 8 (D-III), and the United East (D-III). The NJCAA's Alabama Community College Conference will also begin sponsoring women's flag football in the 2026 season.
