Seven NJCAA Schools Receive Flag Football Grants
The NJCAA Foundation announced seven recipients for its women's flag football grants: Camden County College (NJ), Harcum College (PA), Jackson State Community College (TN), Minnesota North College - Vermilion (MN), Rowan College of South Jersey - Cumberland (NJ), Roxbury Community College (MA), and Triton College (IL).
Harcum and Triton will begin play during the 2025-26 academic year, according to their respective press releases. Camden, Jackson State CC, and RCSJ-Cumberland will begin competition in 2026-27, with the latter two previously reported on this website. The official start dates for Minnesota North-Vermilion and Roxbury CC were not disclosed.
The grants were provided as part of the NFL's ongoing efforts to grow the sport of flag football. NFL Flag and RCX Sports have been instrumental in helping the sport across all collegiate governing bodies, as well as inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
When Camden and RCSJ-Cumberland begin play in the 2026-27 season, New Jersey will have at least six club or varsity teams competing. Camden and RCSJ-Cumberland are the first two NJCAA schools in New Jersey to add the sport. Jackson State CC will become the fourth school in Tennessee to add the sport, as well as the first NJCAA school in the state.
Minnesota College-Vermilion will become the fifth school to add flag football, following four NCAA Division III schools that launched a club league last spring. Roxbury CC is currently the only school in Massachusetts to announce the addition of flag football.
Triton College is the second NJCAA school in Illinois to add the sport, with College of DuPage also set to debut during the 2025-26 academic year. In addition to the two NJCAA programs, six NCAA Division III schools will compete during the season.
Flag Football continues to grow at the collegiate level with over 220 schools expected to participate during the 2025-26 academic year. More than 100 of those teams are new programs, while the list of new teams competing in 2027 approaches two dozen.
