5 Additions This Week
Barry University (FL) will elevate its flag football club team to varsity status beginning with the 2026-27 academic year. Barry is the first school in the NCAA Division II Sunshine State Conference to add a varsity program.
Calumet College of St. Joseph (IN) will add a varsity women's flag football team beginning with the 2026-27 academic year. Calumet College is the first school from the NAIA's Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference to add the sport.
Hastings College (NE) will add a varsity women's flag football program starting with the 2026-27 academic year. Hastings plans to compete in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC).
Lebanon Valley College (PA) will add a varsity women's flag football team and will play its first full season of competition in the spring of 2029. Lebanon Valley plans to compete in the NCAA Division III Middle Atlantic Conference.
Slippery Rock University (PA) will add a varsity women's flag football team and begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year. Slippery Rock is the third school from the NCAA Division II Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference to add a club or varsity team.
2025-26 College Flag Football Season: Fall Competition Winding Down
There's only one major weekend of college flag football left this season. We'll start with the NJCAA's Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC), where Wallace State posted not one, but two 60-0 shutouts on Sunday. Snead State also posted a pair of wins to move to 12-7 overall. Shelton State went 1-1 this weekend, while Lurleen B. Wallace and Northwest-Shoals went 0-2. Wallace State will take its perfect 18-0 record and look to capture the conference's inaugural title next weekend. The conference tournament will be held in Dothan, Alabama, marking the final weekend of action for the ACCC in the 2025-26 season. The ACCC bracket can be found here.
Champions were crowned at three of the NIRSA regionals this weekend. At the Georgia Southern regional, the University of Central Florida won the women's title. At the University of Maryland regional, Howard University captured the women's total, going 5-0 on the weekend. Finally, at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi regional, Texas Southern University won the women's championship. Those three schools will have automatic entry into the NIRSA Championships in January 2026.
The National Collegiate Flag Football League (NCFFL) played its November Cup in New Rochelle, New York, this weekend. Saturday's pool play saw Campbellsville (KY) and College of Staten Island (NY) emerge as the top two seeds. Neither school allowed a point in their two games. Both Mercyhurst (PA) and Albany (NY) posted 1-1 records, while the fifth and sixth seeds went to Rutgers (NJ) and Iona (NY).
On Sunday, the bracket play started with #5 Rutgers defeating #4 Albany 22-6, and #3 Mercyhurst shutting out #6 Iona 24-0 to advance to the semifinals. The first semifinal saw #1 Campbellsville finally allow a point, but they won 33-7 against #5 Rutgers to dance to the title game. The second semifinal was between the #2 College of Staten Island and #3 Mercyhurst, with CSI posting its third shutout in the 20-0 victory.
In the November Cup final, #1 Campbellsville struck first with a touchdown in the first quarter, but #2 CSI took the lead 7-6 late in the second quarter. The Tigers reclaimed the lead just before halftime and wouldn't relinquish it. The defense forced a safety at the start of the third quarter and the offense scored a TD on the ensuing drive to extend the lead to 21-7. Another touchdown at the start of the fourth quarter put Campbellsville up 28-7, which was the final score. 2025-26 Scheduling News
UPDATED THIS WEEK: The final NIRSA regional will be held on campus at Virginia Tech next weekend. The winner will receive an automatic bid to the 2026 NIRSA National Flag Football Championships in January 2026.
The 2025-26 National Collegiate Flag Football League (NCFFL) registration is open. The spring 2026 campaign will feature a 10-game season, with playoffs and a championship in 2026. The NCFFL also posted dates for its spring tournaments and championships, which are as follows:
The first spring tournament will take place on Saturday, March 28, and Sunday, March 29, at Howard Community College (MD) in Columbia, Maryland. The second spring tournament will take place two weeks later, on Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11, at Lancaster Bible College (PA) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Finally, the NCFFL National Championships will be held on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, at the Capelli Sports Complex in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.
NEW THIS WEEK: The NCFFL is looking for schools that would like to host a flag football tournament during the 2026-27 academic year. The NCFFL plans to have 8 events next season. Those interested should email admin@nc-ffl.com for additional information.
UPDATED THIS WEEK: The NCFFL updated the membership for the 2025-26 academic year. 20 schools will participate during the 2025-26 academic year and there is only 1 spot left for the spring 2026 season. The full list of current schools is provided below.

The Women's Collegiate Flag Football League (WCFFL) is looking for additional teams to compete during the 2025-26 academic year. The WCFFL will have tournaments in the fall and spring. Those interested should contact Ms. Venisha Lee at wcflagfootball1@gmail.com.
NEW THIS WEEK: The Golden State Games will take place in Irvine, California, on MLK weekend from Friday, January 16, through Sunday, January 18. Although the Women's College Division has filled up, those interested in playing preseason games can join the waitlist.
CFL Allows Olympic Participation
The Canadian Football League will allow its players to participate in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. The move comes several months after the NFL made the same decision. The CFL notes that it has 37 global players from 16 countries and is reviewing the 2028 schedule to account for the Olympic Games.
Coaching News
Aurora University (IL) posted a job description for a part-time assistant women's flag football coaching position.
NEW THIS WEEK: Benedictine University Mesa (AZ) named Leonard Martinez as an offensive assistant coach. Martinez is the head coach of the GOATs Flag Football Club in Gilbert, Arizona.
NEW THIS WEEK: Calumet College of St. Joseph (IN) named Sam Daniels as the program's inaugural head coach. Daniels is the defensive coordinator for the school's sprint football team. Calumet will begin playing during the 2026-27 academic year.
Campbellsville University (KY) is seeking a part-time assistant flag football coach. The Tigers named Spencer McCown head coach in July 2025.
Cedar Crest College (PA) has posted the job description for the flag football head coaching vacancy. Amanda Avvento was previously the head coach.
The College of Saint Benedict (MN) posted a job description for a women's flag football head coaching vacancy. CSB will begin competing as a club team during the 2025-26 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Greenville University (IL) posted a job description for a women's flag football head coaching position. Greenville hasn't made an official announcement about adding a flag football program.
NEW THIS WEEK: Guilford College (NC) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. Guilford will begin playing flag football in the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Hastings College (NE) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Hastings will begin playing in the 2026-27 academic year.
Indiana Wesleyan University has posted the head coaching job description for the newly formed flag football team. IWU will begin competing during the 2026-27 academic year.
Lewis University (IL) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coach opening. Lewis will play its first season in the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Millsaps College (MS) announced Felicia Ellis as the program's inaugural head coach. Ellis spent four years as the general manager of the Mississippi Lady Panthers of the Women's National Football Conference (WNFC). Millsaps will have a club team in place for the 2026 spring season, before elevating to varsity status in the 2026-27 academic year.
Penn State Schuylkill (PA) is seeking a part-time defensive coordinator. The Nittany Lions will compete in the NCAA Division III Atlantic East Conference in the 2025-26 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Roxbury Community College (MA) named Randy Phillips as the flag football program's inaugural head coach. Phillips has been involved in flag football for over a decade and helped start the flag football program at Johnston High School in Rhode Island. Roxbury CC will begin competing in the spring of 2026.
Saginaw Valley State University (MI) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. SVSU will begin competing during the 2026-27 academic year.
Schreiner University (TX) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Schreiner will begin playing during the 2026-27 academic year.
The University of Bridgeport (CT) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching vacancy. Bridgeport will play its first season in the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: William Smith College (NY) named Rusty Virkler as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2026 spring season. Virkler spent four years at Owego Free Academy, where he compiled a 46-7 overall record. He led Owego to two sectional championships, two New York State Regional championships, and finished runner-up in the 2025 Class C championship game. William Smith will begin competition during the 2026-27 academic year.
Future Camps and Clinics

Millsaps College (MS) will host a prospect camp on Saturday, November 15, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. The camp will include a campus tour and a football game as the season wraps up with Senior Day against Sewanee.
Cornell College (IA) will host a flag football training camp on Sunday, November 16, from 1 to 2:30 PM. The event is open to girls in 6th through 12th grade and will be held on campus in Van Metre Field at Ash Park in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
USA Football is hosting a Talent ID Camp in association with the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, November 23. The camp will be held at Campo Verde High School in Gilbert, Arizona.
The Los Angeles Chargers will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Sunday, November 23. The tournament will be held at Great Park in Irvine, California. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 27.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Sunday, November 23. The tournament will be held at the SouthShore Complex in Apollo Beach, Florida. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 27.
Hope International University (CA) will host a women's flag football youth and prospect camp on Sunday, November 30. The youth camp is for 5th through 8th grades, while the high school prospect camp is for 9th through 12th grade and college transfers. The Camp will be held from 12 to 2 PM at Warren High School in Downey, California.
NEW THIS WEEK: NYS Elite Athletics (NY) will host a girls high school flag football showcase and college fair on Sunday, November 30. The college fair will take place from 9 to 10 AM, followed by the field showcase from 10 AM to 12 PM. The schools that will attend the camp include Eastern University (PA), Elmira College (NY), Genesee Community College (NY), Hartwick College (NY), Roberts Wesleyan (NY), St. Thomas Aquinas College (NY), SUNY Brockport (NY), SUNY Geneseo (NY), and Villa Maria College (NY).
UPDATED THIS WEEK: Arizona Christian University moved its youth flag football camp from Friday, November 14, to Friday, December 5. The clinic will be held on campus at ACU's main football field from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
NEW THIS WEEK: Baker University (KS) will host a girls flag football camp on Saturday, December 6, from 10 AM to 12 PM. The clinic will be held on campus at Liston Stadium in Baldwin City, Kansas.
Blackburn College (IL) will host a high school women's flag football clinic on Sunday, December 6, from 9 AM to 12 PM. The clinic will be held at the Blackburn Athletic Center's indoor turf facility.
Daytona State College (FL) will host a skills and ID camp on Saturday, December 6, in Daytona Beach, Florida. The camp will take place from 10 AM to 1 PM on campus.
The Houston Texans will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Saturday, December 6. The tournament will be held at Farm League Park in Spring, Texas. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, November 10.
Norco College (CA) will host a showcase camp on Saturday, December 6, from 11 AM to 2 PM. The camp will be attended by Arizona Christian (AZ), Aurora (IL), Benedictine Mesa (AZ), Golden West (CA), Hope International (CA), Irvine Valley College (CA), La Sierra (CA), Ottawa (AZ), Purdue Northwest (IN), Santiago Canyon College (CA), and Simpson (CA).
Ottawa University (AZ) will host a flag football recruit day on Saturday, December 6, from 9 AM to 3 PM. The experience will allow recruits to meet coaches, tour the campus, and participate in a few drills.
Warner University (FL) will host a showcase camp on Saturday, December 6, in Lake Wales, Florida. The camp will take place from 9:30 AM to 3 PM and is open to players graduating between 2026 and 2029. Coaches from LaGrange College (GA), St. Thomas University (FL), and Wingate (NC) will be in attendance.
USA Football is hosting a Talent ID Camp in association with the Houston Texans on Sunday, December 7. The camp will be held at Farm League Park in Spring, Texas.
Whittier College (CA) will host a showcase camp on Sunday, December 7, in Whittier, California. The camp will take place from 9:30 AM to 3 PM and is open to players graduating between 2026 and 2029. Coaches from Arizona Christian University, Golden West College (CA), and La Sierra University (CA) will be in attendance.
There will be a showcase camp at Locust Grove High School (GA) on Sunday, December 14, in Locust Grove, Georgia. The camp will take place from 9:30 AM to 3 PM and is open to players graduating between 2026 and 2029. Coaches from Chowan University (NC), LaGrange College (GA), Meredith College (NC), Reinhardt University (GA), and Wingate (NC) will be in attendance.
USA Flag will host the 2026 World Championships from Wednesday, January 14, through Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Tampa, Florida. The deadline to secure a spot is Friday, October 10. Teams can still register between October 11 and December 5, but will be placed on a waiting list.
NEW THIS WEEK: The Golden States Games will take place from Friday, January 16, through Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Irvine, California. There will be divisions for nearly every age group, including a women's college flag division. Part of the Games will have a Prospect Showcase hosted by Cal Poly, and they will partner up with the NFL's Los Angeles Chargers.
Duke University (NC) will partner with Next Level Flag Football to host a 7-week season from Sunday, January 18, 2026, through Sunday, March 1, 2026. The league is coed and open to local students in first through sixth grades.
The Heritage Girls Flag Bowl will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in San Diego, California. The Flag Bowl is open to junior and senior high school students. Players interested in participating can register here, with coaches from the two teams evaluating and ranking players to provide an opportunity to be drafted to play in the Heritage Bowl. The registration deadline is Saturday, October 25, and players will be drafted on Saturday, November 1. Players participating in the Flag Bowl will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to San Diego.
Villa Maria College (NY) will have a women's flag football camp & showcase on Saturday, February 14, 2026, which will feature US Women's National Team member Izzy Geraci. The camp will take place from 12 PM to 2:30 PM at Villa Maria's athletic center in Buffalo, New York.
Howard Community College (MD) will host a spring flag football league in the Spring of 2026. Games will be played each Sunday, starting March 22, 2026, and the league will conclude on June 14, 2026.
Howard Community College (MD) will host a flag football scouting combine the weekend of Saturday, March 28, 2026, and Sunday, March 29, 2026. The camp will take place in Columbia, Maryland, and is open to high school girls in grades 9 through 12. The camp coincides with the NCFFL's Maryland Championship Series.
Lancaster Bible College (PA) will host a flag football scouting combine on Friday, April 10, 2026, and Saturday, April 11, 2026. The camp will take place in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and is open to high school girls in grades 9 through 12. The camp coincides with the NCFFL's Pennsylvania Championship Series.
The NCFFL will host a national flag football scouting combine on the weekend of Saturday, May 2, 2026, and Sunday, May 3, 2026. The camp will take place in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, and is open to high school girls in grades 9 through 12. The camp coincides with the NCFFL's Nationals tournament the same weekend.
Millersville University (PA) will host its 2nd annual girls flag football camp from Wednesday, June 24, through Sunday, June 28, 2026.
Kansas City Chiefs to Provide Free Referee Training
The NFL's Kansas City Chiefs will partner with RefReps to provide free girls flag football referee training throughout Kansas and Missouri. The training will start in the Kansas City area before moving on to St. Louis and Springfield in Missouri, and Topeka and Wichita in Kansas. Both Kansas and Missouri have high school flag football pilot programs and offer pathways to become flag football referees (Kansas here and Missouri here). As more schools add flag football, the strain to find qualified referees increases. We hope to see more NFL franchises working to build up the referee pipeline.
Majority of California Championships Determined
The majority of the sections in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) saw the conclusion of their season this past weekend. In the CIF Sac-Joaquin Playoffs, McClatchy defeated top-seeded West Park 33-25 to win the Division 1 title. In Division 2, #1 seed Merced posted a 33-6 win over Ponderosa. The Division 3 title went to the #1 seed Christian Brothers, who held on to win 18-13 over Del Campo. The Division 4 championship went to #5 Hilmar, who beat #3 Colfax 13-12.
Down in San Diego, five divisions saw champions crowned. The Division I title went to #2 Torrey Pines, who defeated #5 Westview 20-13. Division II saw a shootout won by #4 Vincent Memorial 40-34 over #3 Imperial. In Division III, #6 Mira Mesa shut out #4 Brawley 25-0. Division IV saw #5 Patrick Henry squeak by #7 Mt. Carmel 25-20. The Division V Championship was won by #2 Olympian 25-12, ending #12 Cayon Crest Academy's incredible playoff run.
The CIF Southern Section witnessed its six division championships decided this past weekend. JSerra Catholic won the Division 1 title over Orange Lutheran 25-20. The Division 2 title went to Corona Del Mar, which posted a 26-14 victory over Westlake. In Division 3, Roosevelt defeated La Serna 35-28 in the final. Division 4 was captured by Poly after beating West Ranch 27-18. Anaheim cruised to the Division 5 championship over Castaic with a 32-6 victory. In Division 6, Bishop Alemany won 6-2 over Adelanto.
In the CIF's CCS, a trio of one-score games determined the three division champions. In Division 1, #3 Saint Francis stymied the high-powered offense of #1 seed Brandham and won 13-6. In Division 2, second-seeded San Mateo squeaked out a 7-6 win against #4 Burlingame. In Division 3, #3 Priory defeated #1 Presentation 21-20.
In the NCS championships, the Division 1 title was won by #6 San Ramon Valley after defeating #5 Granada 14-7. In Division 2, top-ranked Cardinal Newman easily defeated #2 Acalanes 34-6 to win the title. The Cardinals won every playoff game by at least 28 points.
The final California titles to be decided are the CIF LA City Section, which will take place next weekend.
Maryland Champions Crown
There were two flag football champions crowned in Maryland at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. In the Class 2A-1A championship, third-seeded Linganore defeated #2 Calvert 26-6. In the Class 4A-3A championship, #2 Clarksburg shut out #4 Whitman 19-0 to capture a second straight title.
Oklahoma and Oklahoma State Marching Bands Conduct Flag Football Game
The marching bands at Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma played in a flag football game this past weekend to raise funds for El Sistema Oklahoma. The nonprofit organization provides free music opportunities throughout the school year to students in the Oklahoma City Public Schools. The flag football game between the two Bedlam rivals took place on Saturday, November 8, at Boone Pickens Stadium on OSU's campus, and was followed by a barbecue.
Olympics to Showcase Flag Football Again in 2032?
The 2032 Brisbane Games could see flag football comeback for a second consecutive Olympics. Recent reports have stated that Australia is pushing to have flag football kept as the list of sports for the 2032 Olympic Games. A short list of potential sports to be included in the 2032 Olympics is expected by Christmas, with a final sports program determined in mid-2026.
Washington Post Looks at Collegiate Flag Football Opportunities
A recent article in the Washington Post looked at how flag football's growth is providing more opportunities for women at the collegiate level. The article focuses on high school junior Aysia Jones-Robinson, who plays for Clarksburg High School in Montgomery County, Maryland. Jones-Robinson was initially focused on basketball, but flag football has become a prominent part of her athletic life. The full story can be found here.
