Welcome to the July 14 edition of the women's flag football newsletter here at Collegiate Flag Football. This will cover news between July 7 and July 13, 2025. 2 Additions This Week

Niagara University (NY) will add a women's flag football club team for the 2025-26 academic year. Niagara is the third school from the NCAA Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) to add a flag football team, joining Iona (NY) and Mount St. Mary's (MD).

Northwestern Ohio (OH) will add a varsity women's flag football team and begin competing in the 2027 spring season. UNOH is one of three Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) members set to debut flag football in 2027 alongside Defiance (OH) and Lourdes (OH).

2025-26 Scheduling News

The 2025-26 National Collegiate Flag Football League (NCFFL) registration is open. The NCFFL will host games in the fall and spring, with schools having the option to compete in either season or both. The spring 2026 campaign will feature a 10-game season, with playoffs and a championship in 2026.

Relatedly, the NCFFL's Collegiate Flag Football Fall Classic will be held on Saturday, October 11, and Sunday, October 12, at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. So far, the College of Staten Island (NY), Iona University (NY), Mercyhurst University (PA), St. Joseph's University (Brooklyn, NY), SUNY Cortland (NY), and Villa Maria College (NY) are committed to competing in the 2025-26 NCFFL.

The NCFFL's November Cup will be held on Saturday, November 8 and Sunday, November 9. The location is to be determined. The NCFFL also posted dates for its spring tournaments and championships:

The first spring tournament will take place on Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29 at Howard Community College (MD) in Columbia, Maryland. The second spring tournament will be two weeks later on Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11 at Lancaster Bible College (PA) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Finally, the NCFFL National Championships will be held on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3 in New Jersey. The exact location is TBD.

UPDATED THIS WEEK: Ferrum College (VA) unveiled its conference dates last week and this week the Panthers revealed the opponents for those dates. Ferrum will play 10 conference games across five weekends and one mid-week game in March and April 2026. Ferrum's conference schedule will include:

March 7: at Wingate (NC)

March 14: at Barton (NC), vs. Mount Olive (NC)

March 21: Erskine (SC), Emmanuel (GA)

March 28: vs. Mount St. Mary's (MD), at King (TN)

April 8: Lees-McRae (NC)

April 11: at Mars Hill (NC), vs. Chowan (NC)

NEW THIS WEEK: The IFFA has posted a survey for college teams regarding the College Flag Showdown for next season. Schools can let the IFFA know how which days, how many total games, and the number of daily games it wishes to play at the tournament. The 2026 College Flag Showdown is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, March 4 through Saturday, March 7.

Atlanta Falcons Funding High School Teams in Montana

Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank is funding additional high school flag football teams, but this one is far outside the southeastern United States. Blank, through his Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, provided grants to 11 Montana high schools. The Falcons also hosted flag football clinics on Thursday, July 10, at Montana State University and Friday, July 11, at the University of Montana.

Coaching News

Albright College (PA) is seeking a head flag football coach. The college announced the addition of flag football in late June.

The College of DuPage (IL) is looking for a part-time assistant coach to join the flag football staff. COD will play its first season in the spring of 2026.

The College of Saint Mary (NE) posted the job description for its head coaching position. Saint Mary will begin competition during the 2027 spring season as a member of the NAIA.

Iona University (NY) is looking for a part-time head coach for the women's flag football team. Iona will compete as a club team beginning with the 2026 spring season.

NEW THIS WEEK: La Sierra University (CA) has hired Nikki Keresoma Verdugo as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 season.

NEW THIS WEEK: Long Island University (NY) named Jimmy Barbarise as the program's first head coach. Barbarise was previously the head coach at the University of Tampa (FL) the last three years.

McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) is looking for a part-time head coach. Those interested should email their resume to coachmac@mcmaster.ca.

Mount Saint Mary College (NY) has posted a job description for a part-time women's flag football head coach. Kevin Longacre was previously in the role for the 2025 spring season.

Penn State Harrisburg (PA) posted a job description for its women's flag football head coaching role. The school previously announced Drew Scales as the head coach in March.

Penn State Schuylkill (PA) is seeking a part-time defensive coordinator. The Nittany Lions will compete in the NCAA Division III Atlantic East Conference in the 2026 spring season.

Thomas University (GA) has an opening for its head coaching role after the departure of Chelsea Parmer earlier this month. The official posting can be found here.

The University of Guelph (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) is looking to hire positional coaches on offensive and defense for the upcoming season. The application deadline is Monday, July 21.

NEW THIS WEEK: Villa Maria College (NY) has hired Matthew Hill as Director of Operations. Hill runs the Niagara Youth Flag Football, an organization dedicated to building coed flag football throughout the Niagara area.

Virginia Wesleyan University (VA) is accepting applications for the women's flag football head coaching position. The application stipulates that this is a part-time position. Virginia Wesleyan will play its inaugural season in 2026.

NEW THIS WEEK: Western University (London, Ontario, Canada) is accepting applications for offensive and defensive coaching positions for next season. The application deadline is Saturday, July 26.

NEW THIS WEEK: Wingate University (NC) head coach Joe Schlager will take on a second head coaching role at the high school level. Schalger will take the reins at Weddington High School down the road in Matthews, North Carolina. Wingate will begin competing in the 2026 spring season, with Schlager set to lead them for the inaugural campaign.

Future Camps and Clinics

NYS Elite Athletics (NY) will host a girls flag football camp on Wednesday, July 16. The camp will be held at the Total Sports Experience facility in Rochester, New York. The camp will take place from 6 PM to 8 PM and be attended by coaches from D'Youville, Roberts Wesleyan, and SUNY Brockport.

UTEP (TX) football players will help host a flag football camp on Thursday, July 17. The camp will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM at Jefferson High School in El Paso, Texas.

Arizona State (AZ) will host a flag football youth camp on Friday, July 18. The camp will be broken into two sessions: one from 6 to 8 PM for middle school and 8:30 to 10:30 PM for high school.

Benedictine Mesa (AZ) will host a women's flag football talent ID camp on Friday, July 18. The camp will be held from 7 PM to 9 PM at Mesa High School. Those interested can fill out the form here.

Campbellsville University (KY) will have a flag football showcase on Saturday, July 19. The showcase will take place at Finley Stadium on the campus of Campbellsville University from 4 PM to 7 PM.

NEW THIS WEEK: The College of Staten Island (NY) will host a flag football clinic on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20. The camp will take place from 10 AM to 1 PM each day.

An Elite Flag Football prospect camp will be held in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday, July 20. The camp will take place from 12 PM to 3 PM, with Florida Gateway head coach Ricky Hufty and former Thomas (GA) head coach Chelsea Parmer as the instructors.

The NCAA Division I Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) is hosting the third annual Girls on the Gridiron Flag Football Clinic on Sunday, July 20. The event will be hosted at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, from 6 to 8 PM.

Texas Wesleyan (TX) is hosting a Friday Night Lights skills and drills camp on July 18th. The camp will begin check-in at 5:30 PM and be held at Karen Cramer Football Field in Fort Worth, Texas.

Marymount University (VA) will host a youth flag football camp from Monday, July 21, through Friday, July 25. The camp will run from 9 AM through 3 PM each day in Arlington, Virginia.

The University of Georgia's (GA) club team will host a flag football youth clinic on Thursday, July 25. The camp will run from 5 to 8 PM and be held at Oconee Veterans Park in Watkinsville, Georgia. Those interested can fill out a form here.

Illinois Wesleyan (IL) will host a flag football summer clinic on Saturday, July 26. The clinic will take place from 9 AM to 12:30 PM on campus in Bloomington.

St. Thomas University (FL) is hosting a women's flag summer classic for travel teams on Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27. The games will be held at Autonation Field on St. Thomas's campus.

SUNY Geneseo (NY) is hosting a flag football ID camp on Saturday, August 2. The camp is open to 8th through 12th graders, plus college freshmen, and will take place from 12 PM to 3 PM on Geneseo's campus.

Villa Maria College (NY) will host a camp and talent ID showcase on Tuesday, August 5. The showcase will take place from 10 AM to 12 PM at Schroon Lake CSD in Schroon Lake, New York.

Lenoir-Rhyne University (NC) will host a women's football clinic on Friday, August 8. The event is open to women ages 21 or older and will take place from 6:30 to 9 PM on Lenoir-Rhyne's campus in Hickory, North Carolina.

Howard Community College (MD) will host a flag football and cheer combine on Saturday, August 9, with some help from the NFL's Baltimore Ravens. The combine will take place from 9 AM to 12 PM on campus.

Elmira College (NY) has updated its summer flag football camp and will now host it on Sunday, August 10. The college will hold it from 9 AM to 3 PM at Elmira College Turf Field. The camp was previously scheduled for three days from June 9 through June 11.

NEW THIS WEEK: Ripon College (WI) will host a flag football mini camp on Monday, August 11. The camp will take place from 3 to 6 PM on campus at Hopp Stadium.

WNY Flash (NY) will host a wide receiver training camp on Tuesday, August 12, from 6 PM to 8 PM. The camp will take place in Elma, New York. Head coaches from D'Youville University (NY), SUNY Geneseo (NY), and Villa Maria (NY) will be in attendance.

William Woods University (MO) and Illinois College will be attending the Push The Limit Girls Flag Football showcase on Sunday, August 17. The showcase will take place from 9 AM to 4 PM in Wentzville, Missouri.

USA Football's Superflag Invitation will take place from August 30 through September 1, in Fort Worth, Texas. The 5-on-5 tournament will have multiple divisions and is invite-only. More information can be found here, including how to request an invitation.

PRP (KY) is hosting a girls flag football college exposure camp on Saturday, September 20. The camp will take place from 11 AM to 3:30 PM at PRP High School in Louisville, Kentucky.

The University of Mount Olive (NC) is postponing its coed flag football camp originally scheduled on Saturday, June 14, to a later date.

NEW THIS WEEK: Norco College (CA) will host a showcase camp on Saturday, December 6 from 11 AM to 2 PM. The camp will be attended by Arizona Christian (AZ), Aurora (IL), Benedictine Mesa (AZ), Golden West (CA), Hope International (CA), La Sierra (CA), Ottawa (AZ), and Simpson (CA).

Villa Maria College (NY) will have a women's flag football camp & showcase on Saturday, February 14, 2026, which will feature US Women's National Team member Izzy Geraci. The camp will take place from 12 PM to 2:30 PM at Villa Maria's athletic center in Buffalo, New York.

NAIA Moves Flag to Invitational Status

Flag football has achieved invitational status in the NAIA. The National Administrative Council (NAC) executive committee approved moving the sport from emerging to invitational status for the 2025-26 academic year. The sport could achieve Championship status as soon as the 2027-28 academic year.

Olympic Schedule Set for Flag Football

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games schedule has been released, and flag football's debut will take place the opening week. The first flag football games in Olympic history will take place from 2 to 5 PM Pacific Time on Saturday, July 15 at Exposition Park Stadium. Games will take place daily leading up to the medal deciding contests on Friday, July 21, and Saturday, July 22. The men's medal contests will be played at 6 PM PT on Friday, July 21, followed by the women's medal games at 1 PM PT on Saturday, July 22.

Rockford to Install New Turf

Rockford University (IL) will install a new multi-purpose turf this year at Sam Greeley Field. The new field will be an artificial surface and used for football, soccer, and women's flag football games. Rockford previously had a grass field installed. Rockford completed its first season in the spring of 2025, going 5-11 overall, with one home game at Sam Greeley Field and three home matchups at a nearby sportsplex.
