Welcome to the May 19 edition of the women's flag football newsletter here at Collegiate Flag Football. This will cover news between May 12 and May 18, 2025. We will take a look at the various stories and happenings across the sport.

Additions This Week

Blackburn College (IL) will add a varsity flag football team and begin competing in the 2027 spring season. Blackburn is the first school from the NCAA Division III St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) to offer the sport at a club or varsity level.

The College of Saint Mary (NE) is adding flag football and will begin competing during the 2027 spring season. Saint Mary is hoping to join the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) as an affiliate member in the sport.

It appears that Drake University (IA) will be adding a women's flag football club team, based on a recent job posting for a head coaching role. If Drake does add a team, they would be the first from the Missouri Valley Confernece to add a club or varsity program.

Harrisburg Area Community College (PA) is adding a flag football team for the 2025-26 academic year. The Hawks are a member of the NJCAA.

Radford University (VA) announced it will add a club flag football team for the 2025-26 academic year. Radford is the first NCAA Division I Big South Conference school to add a club or varsity team.

UT Arlington (TX) is adding a varsity flag football team and will compete starting with the 2027 spring season. UTA is the fifth NCAA Division I school to add a varsity team and the first from the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

2025-26 Scheduling Openings

The National Collegiate Flag Football League (NCFFL) has its 2025-26 interest form available. The NCFFL is looking to fill both fall and spring tournaments. The spring 2026 campaign will feature a 10-game season, with playoffs and a championship in 2026. Schools can fill out the interest form here. The College of Staten Island (NY) won the 2025 NCFFL Championship this spring.

Purdue Northwest (IN) is looking for opponents during the 2026 season. The school is willing to play in Jamborees and mini-tournaments within a 3-hour radius of the Hammond, Indiana area.

Coaches Clinic

For all the aspiring or current flag football coaches: Glazier Clinics will host an online coaches clinic on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21. Coaches from around the nation will provide insights on various topics to help build fundamentals. Current college head coaches scheduled to participate include: Amanda Ruler from Eastern University (PA), Caroline Schwartz from Benedictine University (IL), Charlie Holloway from William Woods (MO), Lane Barlow from Aurora University (IL), and Michael Maccagnano from Arizona Christian University.

Coaching News

Albany (NY) is looking for coaches to help the flag football club team next season. Those interested can send a message via Instagram.

Harford Community College (MD) is looking for two assistant coaches to join its women's flag football staff for next season.

Huntingdon College (AL) is looking for an assistant coach for the flag football team. Those interested should send a cover letter, resume, and three references to head coach Angela Rowe.

Marian University (WI) named Max Denning as the first women's flag football head coach. Denning was previously a coach for the Women's National Football Conference's (WNFC) Oregon Ravens and was most recently a recruiting analyst for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh of NCAA Division III. Marian will begin competing during the 2026 spring season.

Mount St. Mary's University (MD) is looking for an assistant coach for the 2025-26 academic year. Mount St. Mary's is an NCAA Division I institution, but will compete in the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas next season.

PennWest California (CA) hired Noah Mitchell as the program's first coach. Mitchell was the starting quarterback for PennWest's men's football team from 2018 through 2022, with over 10,000 yards passing and 88 touchdowns thrown. The Vulcans will play their first season in the 2026 spring season as a member of NCAA Division II.

Russell Sage College (NY) announced Denver Divens as the first flag football head coach in program history. Divens was an assistant coach for American International College's men's and women's rugby teams. Russell Sage will play its inaugural season in 2026 as a member of the Empire 8 in NCAA Division III.

Thomas University (GA) head coach Chelsea Parmer has stepped down from her position as head coach. Parmer was named the school's first head coach in 2021 and spent four years with the Nighthawks. Thomas went a combined 38-5 in the first two seasons, winning the Sun Conference flag football championship each year, and finishing as NAIA runners-up to Ottawa (KS) in 2022 and 2023. Parmer's record was similar in the final two years, going 35-5 overall and reaching the NAIA semifinals in 2024 and 2025. Parmer finished with an overall record of 73-11 and 32-4 in the Sun Conference.

Ventura Community College (CA) is looking for an assistant women's flag football coach for the 2025-26 academic year.

William Woods (MO) is looking for a graduate assistant to join the coaching staff starting in fall 2025. Those interested should reach out to head coach Charlie Holloway.

Future Camps and Clinics

Aurora University (IL) will host a flag football clinic on Saturday, May 31. The clinic will be hosted on campus at Vago Field from 9 AM to 11:30 AM. Those interested can fill out the registration form here.

Texas Wesleyan (TX) will host a skills and development clinic on Saturday, May 31. There will be two sessions: one from 9 AM to 12 PM, and a second one from 4 PM to 9 PM. The camp will be held at Karen Cramer Football Field in Fort Worth, Texas.

OC Sports Fundamentals will host its "Showcase in the Hills" on Sunday, June 1. The showcase will take place at Canyon High School in Anaheim, California. Representatives from Alabama State (AL), Benedictine Mesa (AZ), Cypress College (CA), Hope International (CA), Irvine Valley (CA), Ottawa (AZ), Redlands (CA), and Saddleback College (CA) will be in attendance.

Neumann University (PA) will host a girls flag football league on Tuesdays and Thursdays during June. The league will begin on Tuesday, June 3 and end on Thursday, June 26. The league will cost $100 and will be run by Neumann's flag football coaching staff.

Washburn University (KS) will host a girls flag football team camp on Sunday, June 8. The camp will take place with scrimmages from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

Winston-Salem State University (NC) is hosting a flag football prospect camp on Sunday, June 8. Transfer students can attend this camp, which will be held at Civitan Park from 9:30 AM to 3 PM.

Elmira College (NY) will host a flag football summer camp from Monday, June 9, through Wednesday, June 11. The camp will take place nightly from 5 PM to 8 PM and culminate with scrimmages on the final evening. The camp will take place at the Elmira College Turf Field.

There will be a College ID Camp hosted by Bruce Mapp in McKinney, Texas, on Saturday, June 14. The "Put HER on the Mapp" camp will provide drills, coaching, scouting, and training sessions. Arizona Christian (AZ), Baker (KS), Concordia (TX), Keiser (FL), Texas Wesleyan (TX), and Saint Mary (KS) will be attending the camp.

The University of Mount Olive (NC) is hosting a coed flag football camp on Saturday, June 14. The camp will be held from 9 AM to 12 PM at the YMCA Field Complex in Goldsboro, North Carolina. UMO head coach Eric James will be in attendance.

St. Joseph's University Brooklyn (NY) will host a flag football skills showcase on Saturday, June 14. The showcase will be held at Our Lady of Grace Field in Brooklyn, New York, from 9 AM to 12:30 PM.

Southern Utah University is hosting its first girls' flag football tournament on Monday, June 16, and Tuesday, June 17, as part of the Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games (USG). The tournament will partner with the Las Vegas Raiders and will be split into high school varsity, junior varsity, and middle school, with registration ending on Monday, May 26. College coaches are welcome to attend and those interested can send an email to usg@suu.edu.

Eastern University (PA) will be the site of a football skills development camp from Monday, June 16, through Thursday, June 19. This is a coed camp that will focus on offensive and defensive skills for kids ages 9 through 14. The camp will be held in Wayne, Pennsylvania.

The University of Kansas is hosting a girls flag football camp on Tuesday, June 17, from 12:45 PM through 3 PM. The camp will be held at the Kansas Football Indoor Practice Facility and the corresponding practice fields in Lawrence, Kansas.

Warner University (FL) and Webber International (FL) will host a Girls Flag Football camp from Wednesday, June 18, through Friday, June 20.

Emmanuel University (GA) will host a girls flag football clinic on Saturday, June 21. The clinic will be held on Emmanuel's campus in Royston, Georgia, from 9 AM to 3 PM. Those interested can fill out the form here.

The University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas, will host the Nike BallHER flag football camp from June 24 to June 26, 2025. Baker (KS), Mars Hill (NC), and Ottawa (KS) will also have representatives in attendance.

Millersville University (PA) is hosting a camp from June 26 through 29, 2025, as noted by Cedar Crest College (PA) in nearby Allentown.

Harrisburg Area Community College will host a women's flag football skills clinic on Saturday, June 28. The clinic will be from 10 AM to 12 PM on HACC's campus.

Holy Family University (PA) will host two summer camps in June and July. The first camp will be held on Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29. The second camp will be held on Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13.

Lindsey Wilson University (KY) will host a flag football showcase on Saturday, July 12. The showcase will be held at Mercy Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, from 6 PM to 8 PM. Those interested can fill out a Google Form.

Campbellsville University (KY) will have a flag football showcase on Saturday, July 19. The showcase will take place at Finley Stadium on the campus of Campbellsville University from 4 PM to 7 PM.

William Woods University (MO) will be attending the Push The Limit Girls Flag Football showcase on Sunday, August 17. The showcase will take place from 9 AM to 4 PM in Wentzville, Missouri.

IWU's Valenzuela Selected to NCAA Women Coaches Academy

Illinois Wesleyan University's flag football head coach Melissa Valenzuela will be participating in the 54th class of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy in Denver, Colorado. Valenzuela will be one of 85 coaches participating in the Academy, which will take place from Sunday, May 18, through Wednesday, May 21. Valenzeula was named IWU's first flag football head coach in December 2024 and will lead the Titans onto the field for the first time in the spring 2026 season.

NFL Players to Participate in 2028 Olympics?

NFL owners will discuss this week whether to allow players to participate in flag football competitions during the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. 24 of 32 owners need to approve the measure for the proposal to pass. NFL teams have been very supportive of flag football at the youth levels, as well as helping collegiate teams. If NFL players are allowed to take part in the 2028 Summer Games, it would give the sport more exposure to help it grow further.

Ohio Talks Flag Football

The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) had its annual meeting on May 15 and flag football was one of the topics. Ohio will not consider sanctioning flag football as a sport until a minimum of 150 schools are competing, but it is aware of the growth around the country. About 100 schools around the state competed in events hosted by the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns in May.

15 states have sanctioned flag football at the high school level: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Mississippi, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Washington. Louisiana approved a pilot program earlier this year, while Indiana and Missouri both designated it an emerging sport.

USA Football Names National Team

The Women's Flag Football National Team was announced on Monday. Current NAIA players Addison Orsborn (Ottawa-KS), Ashlea Klam (Keiser-FL), Janae Scott (Thomas-GA), and former Keiser player Brianna Hernandez-Silva (alternate) were named to the national team. The NJCAA's Florida Gateway College teammates, Alexandra Harris (alternate) and London Jenkins, were also selected. Amber Clark, the current head coach of Saint Mary (Kansas), was also named to the roster. The women's flag football national team will take part in the World Games being held in China later this year.
