Welcome to the October 5 edition of the women's college flag football newsletter here at Collegiate Flag Football. We will look at the various stories and happenings across the sport over the last week, between Monday, September 28, and Sunday, October 4, 2026.

2 Additions This Week, 10 Club Changes, 1 Timeline Adjusted
Ten more club teams will compete in NIRSA's Women's Flag Football Club League next spring: Alabama, Florida A&M, Georgia Tech, LSU, Montana, Montana State, North Georgia, Staten Island (NY), Utah, and Winthrop (SC).
The University of North Georgia and the University of North Texas will both add student-run club teams for the 2026-27 academic year.
Washington Adventist University (MD) will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
More D1 Flag Programs on the Way?
Matt Brown of Extra Points shed some light on future flag football programs. Brown noted that NCAA Division I schools are interested in adding women's flag football, including multiple schools in the Big 12 Conference and Big Ten Conference. Brown estimates roughly 70 D-I women's flag football programs by 2027 and expects groups of schools to announce at the same time instead of one-by-one.
2026-27 Scheduling News
Bradley University (IL) is seeking opponents for the 2027 spring season. Details are provided in the table below.
Cal Poly SLO's (CA) women's flag football club team is seeking three-team round-robin matchups for multiple dates across the fall and spring semesters. Open dates include December 5 (Saturday), February 6 (Sat.), February 20 (Sat.), February 27 (Sat.), March 5 (Friday), March 27 (Sat.), and April 10 (Sat.). Interested teams can contact the team by emailing cpwfclub@calpoly.edu.
Clemson University (SC) will host its 2nd TigerTown Showdown on Sunday, October 18, in Clemson, South Carolina. College teams interested in participating can register here.
NEW THIS WEEK: Dallas College Richland (TX) announced its 2026-27 flag football schedule. Richland will play an exhibition on Saturday, October 17, versus Our Lady of the Lake (TX). The first regular season game will be played on Saturday, February 13, against Howard Payne (TX). The regular season will wrap on Friday, April 16, versus Dallas College Cedar Valley. Richland is one of six Dallas College schools to add flag football for 2026-27. The conference will use a double-round robin schedule for 10 conference matchups in spring 2027.
NEW THIS WEEK: Eastern University (PA) announced its flag football team will play at Nebraska on Saturday, February 27.
NEW THIS WEEK: Iona University (NY) announced its 2026 fall schedule. The Gaels welcomed Albany (NY) and Syracuse (NY) on Sunday, October 4, will play a doubleheader at Sacred Heart (CT) on Tuesday, October 20, will welcome Providence (RI) for a doubleheader on Saturday, November 7, and end the semester with a doubleheader at UConn on Sunday, November 22.
Montana State University is hosting the Turkey Bowl on Saturday, November 7. The tournament includes a 3-game guarantee. Interested teams can contact MSU via social media for more information.
NEW THIS WEEK: Niagara University (NY) announced its fall 2026 schedule. Niagara will play three doubleheaders, starting with Syracuse on Saturday, October 24. The final two doubleheaders will be at home against Vermont on Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7, followed by Albany on Saturday, November 14.
NEW THIS WEEK: Saginaw Valley State University (MI) announced a pair of exhibition games for Saturday, November 7. SVSU will take on Saint Francis (IN) and St. Clair (MI).
NEW THIS WEEK: The University of Central Florida announced its 2026 fall schedule, starting with games against Daytona State (FL) and South Florida on Friday, October 2. UCF also faced Florida, Florida Atlantic, and Stetson on Sunday, October 4. UCF will participate in the Swamp Bowl on Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24. The fall season will end with the NIRSA Regional at Georgia College and State University, followed by the NIRSA Nationals from Tuesday, January 5, through Thursday, January 7.
NEW THIS WEEK: The University of New Mexico is seeking an opponent for a scrimmage on October 24-25 or November 7-8. UNM is open to a program from any collegiate governing body and is available to host or travel up to five hours. Those interested should contact head coach Ramar Watson at coachramarwatson@gmail.com
The University of Florida announced that its 38th annual Swamp Bowl will take place from Friday, October 23 through Sunday, October 25. College teams interested in participating can register here.
NEW THIS WEEK: The University of Vermont announced its fall schedule. Vermont will begin the fall campaign with a non-conference home game versus Bowdoin (ME) on Sunday, October 18. NCFA competition will begin on Saturday, October 24, with a doubleheader at home versus Albany (NY). On Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7, Vermont will travel to face Niagara (NY) for a doubleheader. The final pair of games in November will be at home against Syracuse (NY) on Saturday, November 14.

Binghamton University (NY) posted a job description for a women's flag football assistant coach. Binghamton will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
Bowling Green State University (OH) is seeking a wide receiver and defensive back coach for its women's flag football club team for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should reach out via the team's social media account.
Cal Poly Pomona (CA) is seeking volunteer coaches for the women's flag football club team. Those interested can fill out this form.
Christian Brothers University (TN) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching position. CBU has not officially announced the start of a flag football team.
Dickinson State University (ND) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching position. This job is for an intramural team.

Eckerd College (FL) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching position. Eckerd will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
Edgewood University (WI) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching position. Edgewood will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.

Georgia Military College posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. GMC has not officially announced the launch of a flag football team.
The Guimond Vukovic Group (GVG) is offering postgraduate opportunities for athletes seeking a one-year master's degree in the United Kingdom. Scholarship opportunities are available for students with a GPA of 2.8 or higher. Athletes who wish to continue playing collegiate flag football, develop programs, build the sport internationally, or pursue coaching opportunities are encouraged to apply. GVG offers a free service to connect student-athletes with partner institutions in the U.K. The FAQ section on GVG's website provides additional information. This postgraduate opportunity is in the United Kingdom.
Gwynedd Mercy University (PA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Gwynedd Mercy will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
Harrisburg Area Community College (PA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position.
Hastings College (NE) is seeking a graduate assistant and a volunteer assistant coach for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should send a resume to head coach De'Andre Robinson at deandre.robinson@hastings.edu.
Indiana Institute of Technology posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. Indiana Tech will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.

NEW THIS WEEK: LaGrange University (GA) named Bryonne Herring as the next head coach of the women's flag football program. Herring was previously in charge of flag football at Meredith College (NC) in 2026 and SUNY Brockport (NY) before that. Herring takes over for Breana Sumpter, who departed to become head coach at Gettysburg College (PA).
Lebanon Valley College (PA) posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. LVC will compete at a varsity level no later than the 2028-29 academic year.
Manchester University (IN) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Manchester will begin playing in the 2027-28 academic year.
Manhattanville University (NY) posted a job description for a women's flag football head coach position. Manhattanville will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
Marian University (WI) is seeking a stipend assistant coach and a volunteer assistant coach for the 2026-27 flag football season. Those interested should contact head coach Max Denning at mwdenning28@marianuniversity.edu.
Marymount University (VA) posted the job description for a women's flag football assistant coaching position.
Moorpark College (CA) posted a job description for a women's flag football head coach position. Moorpark announced a new program at the end of June.
NEW THIS WEEK: Roanoke College (VA) named Elizabeth Faust as the inaugural head coach of the women's flag football program. Faust helped build the US Flag Football National Team at the U17 and U15 levels and has spent more than a decade working for USA Football. Roanoke will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
Rockford University (IL) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching position.
Sacred Heart University (CT) posted the job descriptions for a women's flag football head coach and assistant coach positions. Sacred Heart offers a club team.
San Bernardino Community College District (CA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. The position will be for either San Bernardino Valley College or Crafton Hills College. Neither school has officially announced a flag football program.
Shaw University (NC) posted the job description for a women's flag football assistant coaching position. Shaw will add women's flag football beginning with the 2026-27 academic year.
Simpson University (CA) is seeking assistant coaches for the women's flag football team in the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should contact head coach Jose Sanchez at jsanchez@simpsonu.edu.
St. Lawrence University (NY) posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. St. Lawrence will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
Thomas More University (KY) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching position. Thomas More will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
Tiffin University (OH) posted the job description for a women's flag football club team head coaching position. Tiffin has not officially announced a flag football program. The school also posted a description for the men's flag football club team opening.
Union College of Union County (NJ) posted a job description for a women's flag football assistant coaching position. UCNJ has not yet announced the addition of a women's flag football program.
The University at Albany (NY) is seeking a head coach and assistant coach for its women's flag football club team in the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should reach out via social media or contact fgriffin@albany.edu.
The University of Bridgeport (CT) is seeking volunteer head coaches for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should contact head coach Kwadir Delgado-McIntyre at kdelga@bridgeport.edu.
The University of California San Diego is seeking volunteer coaches for its women's flag football club team during the 2026-27 academic year.
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is seeking an assistant coach for the women's flag football program. Those interested should submit a resume to head coach Ralph Clark at rclark6@umassd.edu.
The University of Mount Olive (NC) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should submit an application, resume, and a minimum of three references to head coach Derrick Lucas at dlucas@umo.edu.
The University of North Texas at Dallas posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. UNT Dallas will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: The University of Oregon named Scott Feldman as the head coach of the women's flag football club team. Feldman also serves as the head coach for the varsity girls flag football team at North Eugene High School.
The University of Sioux Falls (SD) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching position. USF will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
Ursinus College (PA) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching position. Ursinus will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Washington Adventist University (MD) named Katie Rim as the next head coach of the women's flag football program. Alonzo Marshall was the previous head coach. WAU is now planning to launch in the 2027-28 academic year.
Former San Francisco 49ers Watch Top High School Flag Matchup
Several former San Francisco 49ers players were on hand to watch two of the best California high school flag football teams. Anthony Dixon and Steve Young saw JSerra Catholic defeat Menlo School 32-12 on Thursday, September 24. Young helped start Menlo's flag football program, alongside former 49ers teammate John Paye. The pair coached the program, which went undefeated in its first two years. Menlo won the 2025 CIF Central Coast Section, while JSerra Catholic won the CIF Southern Section.
Hawaii Pacific Flag Football Team Talks First Season
Head coach Kanda Korver, along with players Addison Morgan and Kealohilani "Kea" Akana, spoke about the upcoming inaugural campaign on the Sharks Weekly podcast. Korver is excited about the sport's growth and said the sport's energy drew her to the head coaching position. Korver noted that the late recruiting start required over 1,500 phone calls, scouring the transfer portal, and scouting the basketball courts and soccer fields to build the first team.
Morgan pointed to her interactions with Coach Korver and the climate as her main reasons for transferring from Wingate University (NC). Morgan was a state champion in her senior year of high school and won MVP honors in the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas championship last spring. Akana grew up in Hawaii, started playing flag football in 8th grade, and also won a state championship in high school. She originally planned to enroll elsewhere, but chose HPU after flag football was announced, largely because of her friends and family. Watch the full 47-minute interview here.
iFlag Launches Connected Season for Youth Flag Football
iFlag announced a Road to Worlds initiative, which will link five regional Premier Circuits to the iFlag National Championship and iFlag World Championship. The Road to Worlds will introduce WorldPath Points, which will be used to seed teams for the U7 through U18 divisions. The five Premier Circuits are as follows:
- SoCal (Los Angeles & Southern California): November 14-15, 2026
- Dallas (Dallas-Fort Worth): November 20-22, 2026
- Las Vegas: January 22-24, 2027
- Tampa Bay: February 26-28, 2027
- NorCal (San Francisco & Lake Tahoe): March 13-14, 2027
Massachusetts Flag Goal Met
The goal of 58 principal-signed letters from Massachusetts high schools was reached before the October 1 deadline. The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) required at least 58 letters for flag football to be considered for sanctioning. Flag football supporters are hopeful that flag football can become an emerging sport in 2027, followed by a full sanctioning from the MIAA in 2028.
TMRW Sports Announces Executives for Pro Flag League
TMRW Sports announced the addition of four executives for the professional flag football leagues debuting ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Alyssa Marks will serve as Vice President of Partnerships, Laura Andriani will serve as the Senior Vice President of Marketing, Steve Worling will serve as Vice President of Technology, and Thomas McHardy will serve as Vice President of Strategy and Development.
Tyrone Poole Speaks at Unity Awards Breakfast
Tyrone Poole, the head coach of Alabama State University's women's flag football team, spoke at the Annual Unity Awards Breakfast in Montgomery, Alabama, on October 1. Pooke spoke about collaboration, leadership, and providing opportunities for others. The Annual Unity Awards Breakfast recognizes people who have helped strengthen Montgomery.
UTA Shares Prosser-Shaw's Story
University of Texas at Arlington shared the story of women's flag football player Amelie Prosser-Shaw. She was born in England, but grew up in Australia where she played Australian Rules Football. Prosser-Shaw was part of the team that won three straight Sydney AFL premierships and was the first Australian woman to receive an NCAA Division I college flag football scholarship. She is hopeful that she will be able to represent Australia at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Eastern Connecticut State University will host a women's flag football recruit day on Saturday, October 10, from 9:30 AM to 2 PM. The camp is open to high school recruits. The day will include Q&A with head coach Andy Crane, a campus tour, and seeing the flag football team scrimmage at 12:30 PM.
Florida Atlantic University will host a girls youth skills clinic and college ID camp on Saturday, October 10. The youth skills clinic will run from 9 AM to 12 PM and is open to athletes in grades 2 through 8. The college ID camp will run from 12 to 3 PM and is open to athletes in grades 9 through 12. Both camps will be held on campus in Boca Raton, Florida.
Meredith College (NC) will host a women's flag football prospect camp on Saturday, October 10, from 10 AM to 12 PM. The camp is open to athletes in grades 9 through 12 and will be held on campus at the Meredith College Athletic Turf Facility in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Saginaw Valley State University (MI) will host a flag football fall skills clinic on Saturday, October 10, from 10 AM to 1 PM. The clinic is open to athletes ages 8 to 17 and will be held on campus at the SVSU Fieldhouse in University Center, Michigan.
Wisconsin Lutheran College will host a women's flag football skills challenge on Saturday, October 10, from 2 to 3:30 PM. The challenge is open to 2027 and 2028 high school athletes, as well as current WLC students. The challenge will be held at Historic Raabe Stadium in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
Keiser University (FL) will host a girls flag football prospect clinic on Sunday, October 11, from 9 to 11 AM. The camp is open to athletes ages 5 through 18 and grades 1 through 12. The camp will be held on campus in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The Las Vegas Raiders (NV) will host an NFL FLAG Regional on Sunday, October 11. The tournament will be held at Heritage Park in Henderson, Nevada. The registration deadline is Monday, September 7.
Chestnut Hill College (PA) will host an open house and prospect camp on Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM to 3 PM. The camp will take place from 1 to 3 PM, and both events will be held on campus at the grass field next to the tennis courts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Cornell College (IA) will host a women's flag football campus visit day on Saturday, October 17. The visit day will begin at 11 AM. Cornell is located in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
Florida State University will host a girls high school flag football clinic on Saturday, October 17, from 9 AM to 12 PM. The clinic is open to athletes ages 14 to 18 and will be held at the FSU Rec Sports Plex in Tallahassee, Florida.
Kansas Wesleyan University will host a girls flag football clinic on Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM to 12 PM. The clinic is open to athletes ages 5 through 14 and will be held at the Salina Family YMCA fields in Salina, Kansas.
The New York Jets (NJ) will host an NFL FLAG Regional on Sunday, October 18. The tournament will be held at the Athenia Steel Recreation Complex in Clifton, New Jersey. The registration deadline is Monday, September 14.
SCAD Savannah (GA) will host a women's flag football skills camp on Sunday, October 18, from 8 to 11 AM. The camp is open to athletes in grades 8 through 12 and will be held at the SCAD Athletics Complex in Hardeeville, South Carolina.
Slippery Rock University (FL) will host a women's flag football prospect camp on Sunday, October 18, from 10:30 AM to 1 PM. The International Flag League (formerly USA Flag) will host its 2027 National Championships in Tampa, Florida, on MLK weekend in January 2027. The dates are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, January 13, 2027, through Sunday, January 17, 2027.
NEW THIS WEEK: The University of Montana will host a Winter Flag Football League from Sunday, January 17, through Sunday, February 28. The League is open to players from kindergarten through 7th grade, with six different divisions available. The registration deadline is Monday, January 25.
The International Flag League (formerly USA Flag) will host its 2027 World Championships in Los Angeles, California, from Thursday, July 8, 2027, through Sunday, July 11, 2027. A collegiate division will be competing for the first time at the 2027 championships.
