7 Additions This Week
There were 7 new flag football programs announced in the past week across the NCAA and NAIA.
Dominican University New York and the University of Bridgeport will add varsity women's flag football teams beginning with the 2026-27 academic year. Both schools will compete in the NCAA Division II Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, which confirmed that a flag football championship will be held starting in spring 2027.
Jacksonville University (FL) will add a women's flag football club team and begin competing in spring 2026. Jacksonville is the fourth school from the NCAA Division I Atlantic Sun Conference to add a flag football club team.
Mississippi Valley State University will add a varsity women's flag football team and compete starting in the 2026-27 academic year. MVSU is the second school from the NCAA Division I Southwestern Athletic Conference to add a varsity program.
Missouri Baptist University and William Penn University (IA) will add varsity women's flag football teams beginning with the 2026-27 academic year. Both schools compete in the NAIA's Heart of America Athletic Conference, which has six members sponsoring the sport.
Purdue University Fort Wayne (IN) will add a women's flag football club team for the 2026-27 academic year. The Mastodons are the first school from the NCAA Division I Horizon League to add a club or varsity flag football program.
2025-26 College Flag Football Season Continues
The NJCAA's Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) played its penultimate regular season weekend on November 2. Wallace State continued its domination with a doubleheader sweep against Northwest-Shoals by a combined margin of 113-13. Wallace State remains undefeated at 16-0. Calhoun wrapped up its regular season by defeating Snead State 12-0 and moved to 12-5 overall. The final weekend of action will be on Sunday, November 9, when all schools except Calhoun will be in action. The ACCC Tournament will be held the following weekend in Boaz, Alabama, from Friday, November 14, through Sunday, November 16.
The second week of the SWCFFA's Carolina Crown Showdown took place this weekend. NC State was the only team to complete the weekend undefeated, posting 19-0 and 22-21 wins against Virginia and Charlotte, respectively. Charlotte went 2-1, defeating Clemson 13-7 and North Carolina Central 13-0 in its other two games. Clemson and Virginia both went 1-1, North Carolina Central went 1-2, and Duke finished the weekend 0-2. There is one final weekend of action on Saturday, November 15, when the SWCFFA playoffs will take place on the campus of UNC Charlotte.
North of the border, the Ontario Women's Intercollegiate Football Association's (OWIFA) 5 v 5 fall season came to a conclusion. Queen's University won the Tier A championship over Western University by a final score of 12-6, while in the Tier B championship, McMaster University defeated Laurier University 18-0.
2025-26 Scheduling News
NEW THIS WEEK: The road to NIRSA's Flag Football Championships starts this weekend with four regionals. Georgia Southern University, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, the University of Maryland, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will host a regional for college clubs and intramural teams. The fifth regional will be held next week at Virginia Tech. The winners of the five regionals will receive an automatic bid to the 2026 NIRSA National Flag Football Championships in January 2026.
UPDATED THIS WEEK: The NCFFL released the matchups for the November Cup scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 8, and Sunday, November 9. Campbellsville University (KY), the College of Staten Island (NY), Iona University (NY), Mercyhurst University (PA), Rutgers University (NJ), and the University of Albany (NY) will each play two games on Saturday, November 8, to determine seeding. The teams will return on Sunday, November 9, to decide the November Cup Champion. All games will be shown on YouTube via The Flag Network channel. The NCFFL will also partner with Shruumz Football through the 2026 NCFFL National Championship.
The 2025-26 National Collegiate Flag Football League (NCFFL) registration is open. The spring 2026 campaign will feature a 10-game season, with playoffs and a championship in 2026. The NCFFL also posted dates for its spring tournaments and championships, which are as follows:
The first spring tournament will take place on Saturday, March 28, and Sunday, March 29, at Howard Community College (MD) in Columbia, Maryland. The second spring tournament will take place two weeks later, on Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11, at Lancaster Bible College (PA) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Finally, the NCFFL National Championships will be held on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, at the Capelli Sports Complex in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.
The NCFFL updated the membership for the 2025-26 academic year. Over 20 schools will participate during the 2025-26 academic year and the list of participating schools includes:

The Women's Collegiate Flag Football League (WCFFL) is looking for additional teams to compete during the 2025-26 academic year. The WCFFL will have tournaments in the fall and spring. Those interested should contact Ms. Venisha Lee at wcflagfootball1@gmail.com.
NEW THIS WEEK: Barton College (NC) released its Conference Carolinas schedule for spring 2026. Barton will face Mount Olive (NC) on Friday, March 6, followed by a doubleheader against Mount St. Mary's (MD) and Ferrum (VA) on Saturday, March 14. There will be a mid-week game versus Chowan (NC) on Wednesday, March 18.
Action will continue on Saturday, March 21, with a doubleheader against Mars Hill (NC) and Wingate (NC). There will be another doubleheader on Friday, March 27, versus Erskine (SC) and Emmanuel (GA). April will kickoff with a doubleheader against King University (TN) and Lees-McRae (NC) on Saturday, April 4. The regular season will conclude on Sunday, April 12, with a game versus Mount Olive (NC). The Conference Carolinas flag football tournament will take place from Friday, April 17, through Sunday, April 19.
NEW THIS WEEK: LaGrange College (GA) released its 2026 spring schedule. It will start with a doubleheader against Andrew College (GA) and Brewton-Parker (GA) on Saturday, February 7. The following Saturday, LaGrange will face Reinhardt (GA) and Thomas (GA) at home. On February 20, it will be another road doubleheader against Campbellsville (KY) and Huntington (AL). The next day, LaGrange will face Cumberland (TN). The Panthers will end February with an away game at Point (GA) on Saturday, February 28.
LaGrange will begin March with a doubleheader against Emmanuel (GA) and Milligan (TN) on Saturday, March 7. After a small break, the Panthers will have a game at Reinhardt (GA) on Thursday, March 19. The month will wrap up on Saturday, March 28, with games against College of DuPage (IL) and Florida Gateway. The regular season will conclude at home on Saturday, April 11, with Huntingdon (AL) and Milligan (TN) coming to town.
Coaching News
Aurora University (IL) posted a job description for a part-time assistant women's flag football coaching position.
Caldwell University (NJ) has posted an opening for a part-time women's flag football head coach. Caldwell will add flag football beginning with the 2026-27 academic year.
Campbellsville University (KY) is seeking a part-time assistant flag football coach. The Tigers named Spencer McCown head coach in July 2025.
Cedar Crest College (PA) has posted the job description for the flag football head coaching vacancy. Amanda Avvento was previously the head coach.
The College of Saint Benedict (MN) posted a job description for a women's flag football head coaching vacancy. CSB will begin competing as a club team during the 2025-26 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Cottey College (MO) has appointed Chris Smoot as the next flag football coach, according to the school's athletic website. Smoot will take over for Jay Osborne, who has taken the head coaching position at Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX).
NEW THIS WEEK: East Texas Baptist University announced Maddie Melton as the school's first flag football head coach. Melton graduated from ETBU in 2024 after playing as a member of the softball team and later became a graduate assistant for the team. ETBU will be one of six American Southwest Conference teams to begin playing in the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Hartwick College (NY) named Rusty Virkler as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2026 spring season. Hartwick spent four years at Owego Free Academy, where he compiled a 46-7 overall record. He led Owego to two sectional championships, two New York State Regional championships, and finished runner-up in the 2025 Class C championship game.
Indiana Wesleyan University has posted the head coaching job description for the newly formed flag football team. IWU will begin competing during the 2026-27 academic year.
Lewis University (IL) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coach opening. Lewis will play its first season in the 2026-27 academic year.
Penn State Schuylkill (PA) is seeking a part-time defensive coordinator. The Nittany Lions will compete in the NCAA Division III Atlantic East Conference in the 2025-26 academic year.
Roxbury Community College (MA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Roxbury CC will begin competing in the spring of 2026.
Saginaw Valley State University (MI) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. SVSU will begin competing during the 2026-27 academic year.
Schreiner University (TX) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Schreiner will begin playing during the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Thomas University (GA) has named Ni'Ja Seals the flag football head coach, according to her university athletics bio. Seals will take over for Chelsea Parmer, who resigned earlier this year after four seasons. Parmer went 73-11 overall and 32-4 in the Sun Conference, reaching the NAIA's semifinals all four years and finishing runner-up in 2022 and 2023.
The University of Bridgeport (CT) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching vacancy. Bridgeport will play its first season in the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX) named Jay Osborne as the flag football program's first head coach. Osborne was previously selected as the head coach of Cottey College (MO) in June. UMHB will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
The University of Mount Olive (NC) has posted the job description for the flag football head coaching vacancy.
NEW THIS WEEK: The University of North Alabama has named Anna Milwee Hovater as the interim head coach for the flag football team. The Lions will begin competing in 2026-27.
NEW THIS WEEK: The University of South Florida has hired Brodie Alcocer as the flag football club team's head coach.
NEW THIS WEEK: Virginia Wesleyan University named Emanuel Cheston as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2026 spring season. Cheston was previously with the Indian River High School in Chesapeake, Virginia.
NEW THIS WEEK: Westminster College (MO) named Emilee Buhl as the program's first head coach. Buhl was previously a flag football player at Kansas Wesleyan University from 2022 through 2025, where KWU reached the NAIA postseason all four seasons.
William Smith College (NY) is seeking a head coach for its newly established flag football program.

USA Football is hosting a Talent ID Camp in association with the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, November 8. The camp will be held at the Chiefs Indoor Facility in Kansas City, Missouri.
The New England Patriots will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Saturday, November 8. The tournament will be held at Forkicks Taunton in Taunton, Massachusetts. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 13.
The Dallas Cowboys will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Sunday, November 9. The tournament will be held at the Cowboys' practice facility (The Star) in Frisco, Texas. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 13.
Eastern University (PA) will host a flag football ID camp on Sunday, November 9. The camp will take place from 1 to 3 PM in Wayne, Pennsylvania.
Keiser University (FL) will host a girls flag football clinic on Sunday, November 9. The clinic will run from 9 AM to 11 AM and be held at the KU multi-purpose field.
NEW THIS WEEK: Millsaps College (MS) will host a prospect camp on Saturday, November 15, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. The camp will include a campus tour and a football game as the season wraps up with Senior Day against Sewanee.
NEW THIS WEEK: Cornell College (IA) will host a flag football training camp on Sunday, November 16, from 1 to 2:30 PM. The event is open to girls in 6th through 12th grade and will be held on campus in Van Metre Field at Ash Park in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
USA Football is hosting a Talent ID Camp in association with the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, November 23. The camp will be held at Campo Verde High School in Gilbert, Arizona.
The Los Angeles Chargers will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Sunday, November 23. The tournament will be held at Great Park in Irvine, California. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 27.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Sunday, November 23. The tournament will be held at the SouthShore Complex in Apollo Beach, Florida. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 27.
NEW THIS WEEK: Hope International University (CA) will host a women's flag football youth and prospect camp on Sunday, November 30. The youth camp is for 5th through 8th grades, while the high school prospect camp is for 9th through 12th grade and college transfers. The Camp will be held from 12 to 2 PM at Warren High School in Downey, California.
UPDATED THIS WEEK: Arizona Christian University moved its youth flag football camp from Friday, November 14, to Friday, December 5. The clinic will be held on campus at ACU's main football field from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
Blackburn College (IL) will host a high school women's flag football clinic on Sunday, December 6, from 9 AM to 12 PM. The clinic will be held at the Blackburn Athletic Center's indoor turf facility.
Daytona State College (FL) will host a skills and ID camp on Saturday, December 6, in Daytona Beach, Florida. The camp will take place from 10 AM to 1 PM on campus.
The Houston Texans will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Saturday, December 6. The tournament will be held at Farm League Park in Spring, Texas. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, November 10.
Norco College (CA) will host a showcase camp on Saturday, December 6, from 11 AM to 2 PM. The camp will be attended by Arizona Christian (AZ), Aurora (IL), Benedictine Mesa (AZ), Golden West (CA), Hope International (CA), Irvine Valley College (CA), La Sierra (CA), Ottawa (AZ), Purdue Northwest (IN), Santiago Canyon College (CA), and Simpson (CA).
Ottawa University (AZ) will host a flag football recruit day on Saturday, December 6, from 9 AM to 3 PM. The experience will allow recruits to meet coaches, tour the campus, and participate in a few drills.
Warner University (FL) will host a showcase camp on Saturday, December 6, in Lake Wales, Florida. The camp will take place from 9:30 AM to 3 PM and is open to players graduating between 2026 and 2029. Coaches from LaGrange College (GA), St. Thomas University (FL), and Wingate (NC) will be in attendance.
USA Football is hosting a Talent ID Camp in association with the Houston Texans on Sunday, December 7. The camp will be held at Farm League Park in Spring, Texas.
Whittier College (CA) will host a showcase camp on Sunday, December 7, in Whittier, California. The camp will take place from 9:30 AM to 3 PM and is open to players graduating between 2026 and 2029. Coaches from Arizona Christian University, Golden West College (CA), and La Sierra University (CA) will be in attendance.
There will be a showcase camp at Locust Grove High School (GA) on Sunday, December 14, in Locust Grove, Georgia. The camp will take place from 9:30 AM to 3 PM and is open to players graduating between 2026 and 2029. Coaches from Chowan University (NC), LaGrange College (GA), Meredith College (NC), Reinhardt University (GA), and Wingate (NC) will be in attendance.
USA Flag will host the 2026 World Championships from Wednesday, January 14, through Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Tampa, Florida. The deadline to secure a spot is Friday, October 10. Teams can still register between October 11 and December 5, but will be placed on a waiting list.
Duke University (NC) will partner with Next Level Flag Football to host a 7-week season from Sunday, January 18, 2026, through Sunday, March 1, 2026. The league is coed and open to local students in first through sixth grades.
The Heritage Girls Flag Bowl will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in San Diego, California. The Flag Bowl is open to junior and senior high school students. Players interested in participating can register here, with coaches from the two teams evaluating and ranking players to provide an opportunity to be drafted to play in the Heritage Bowl. The registration deadline is Saturday, October 25, and players will be drafted on Saturday, November 1. Players participating in the Flag Bowl will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to San Diego.
Villa Maria College (NY) will have a women's flag football camp & showcase on Saturday, February 14, 2026, which will feature US Women's National Team member Izzy Geraci. The camp will take place from 12 PM to 2:30 PM at Villa Maria's athletic center in Buffalo, New York.
Howard Community College (MD) will host a spring flag football league in the Spring of 2026. Games will be played each Sunday, starting March 22, 2026, and the league will conclude on June 14, 2026.
Howard Community College (MD) will host a flag football scouting combine the weekend of Saturday, March 28, 2026, and Sunday, March 29, 2026. The camp will take place in Columbia, Maryland, and is open to high school girls in grades 9 through 12. The camp coincides with the NCFFL's Maryland Championship Series.
Lancaster Bible College (PA) will host a flag football scouting combine on Friday, April 10, 2026, and Saturday, April 11, 2026. The camp will take place in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and is open to high school girls in grades 9 through 12. The camp coincides with the NCFFL's Pennsylvania Championship Series.
The NCFFL will host a national flag football scouting combine on the weekend of Saturday, May 2, 2026, and Sunday, May 3, 2026. The camp will take place in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, and is open to high school girls in grades 9 through 12. The camp coincides with the NCFFL's Nationals tournament the same weekend.
Millersville University (PA) will host its 2nd annual girls flag football camp from Wednesday, June 24, through Sunday, June 28, 2026.
IFAF's 2026 World Championships Set
The IFAF's 2026 Flag Football World Championships nations are set. The Championships will take place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from Thursday, August 13, through Sunday, August 16, 2026. On the women's side, the German hosts will be joined by 15 nations: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Panama, Slovenia, Spain, and the United States.
The men's tournament will also have 16 teams, led by the hosts, Germany. American Samoa, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Great Britain, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Panama, Switzerland, and the United States will join them.
LSU Hosts Annual Flag Tournament for the Visually Impaired
LSU's Delta Gamma sorority held its annual Anchor Bowl flag football tournament this past weekend. The Anchor Bowl raises money for Delta Gamma's Service for Sight program, which helps blind and visually impaired people. 20 teams took part in the tournament, which TSA won.
Nevada State Makes Appearance at the Raiders Game
Nevada State University had a team showcase before the start of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars at Las Vegas Raiders game on Sunday. A short clip highlighting the experience can be seen here. Nevada State will begin competition during the spring 2026 season.
Pair of BYU Brothers and Football Players Helping Intramural Team
BYU football's Bear and Tiger Bachmeier have been helping the school's intramural flag football team. Bear Bachmeier has been leading the BYU football offense this season, with 2,101 total yards and 20 touchdowns, and has been aiding the intramural offense as well. Tiger Bachmeier has been commanding the intramural defense. The brothers have received many compliments for taking time out of their demanding fall schedules to share their football knowledge.
Sky Sports Looks at the International Growth of Flag Football
The British publication Sky Sports looked at the growth of flag football outside the United States in a recent article. Sky notes that more than 20 million people play flag football in over 100 countries. There are over 1,000 schools in the United Kingdom that participate in various flag football activities. The article highlights the accessibility of the sport as one of the key factors in the booming popularity and mentions that one goal is to expand the sport at the college level to provide more scholarship opportunities.
Texas Passes on Sanctioning Flag Football Again
For the second time this year, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) declined to sanction flag football as a high school sport. The UIL also opted against adding boys volleyball, lacrosse, ice hockey, and pickleball as sanctioned sports. In June 2025, the UIL took no action when the flag football proposal came up, citing the lack of statewide participation. The NFL's Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans have been helping push the sport and more high schools around the state are expected to add programs.
