1 Addition This Week, 1 Conference Change
Brewton-Parker Christian University (GA) will join the Sun Conference as a flag football affiliate member beginning with the 2025-26 academic year.
Savannah College of Art and Design (GA) will add a women's varsity flag football team beginning with the 2026-27 academic year. SCAD will compete in the Sun Conference.
2025-26 Season Kicks Off This Weekend
The 2025-26 collegiate flag football season will kick off this week with the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) in action on Sunday, September 14. The ACCC competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Seven community colleges will compete this fall for the ACCC title: Bishop State, Calhoun, Lurleen B. Wallace, Northwest-Shoals, Shelton State, Snead State, and Wallace State.
2025-26 Scheduling News
The 2025-26 National Collegiate Flag Football League (NCFFL) registration is open. The NCFFL will host games in both the fall and spring seasons, with schools having the option to compete in either season or both. The spring 2026 campaign will feature a 10-game season, with playoffs and a championship in 2026.
Relatedly, the NCFFL's Collegiate Flag Football Fall Classic will be held on Saturday, October 18, and Sunday, October 19, at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. The Classic was previously scheduled for October 11 and October 12, but the NCFFL changed the dates. The NCFFL's November Cup will be hosted by Iona University in New Rochelle, New York, on Saturday, November 8, and Sunday, November 9. The NCFFL also posted dates for its spring tournaments and championships, which are as follows:
The first spring tournament will take place on Saturday, March 28, and Sunday, March 29, at Howard Community College (MD) in Columbia, Maryland. The second spring tournament will take place two weeks later, on Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11, at Lancaster Bible College (PA) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Finally, the NCFFL National Championships will be held on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, in New Jersey. The exact location is TBD.
The NCFFL updated the membership for the 2025-26 academic year. The College of Staten Island (NY), Iona University (NY), Mercyhurst University (PA), St. Joseph's University (Brooklyn, NY), SUNY Cortland (NY), and Villa Maria College (NY) were committed to competing in the 2025-26 NCFFL. Campbellsville (KY), Ferrum (VA), Howard Community College (MD), Kean University (NJ), and Lancaster Bible College (PA) will also participate in 2025-26.
The IFFA has posted a survey for college teams regarding the College Flag Showdown for next season. Schools can let the IFFA know which days, how many total games, and the number of daily games they wish to play at the tournament. The 2026 College Flag Showdown is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, through Saturday, March 7.
The Southern Women's Collegiate Flag Football Alliance (SWCFFA) is looking for additional teams to participate during the 2025-26 academic year. The SWCFFA previously announced that five NCAA Division I club teams will compete.
The University of Florida will host its 37th Annual Swamp Bowl from Friday, October 24, through Sunday, October 26. College flag football teams will compete on Friday, October 24, and Saturday, October 25. High school teams will play on Saturday, October 25, and Sunday, October 26. Interested college teams can sign up here, while high school teams can sign up here.
UPDATED THIS WEEK: The Women's Collegiate Flag Football League (WCFFL) is looking for additional teams to compete during the 2025-26 academic year. The WCFFL will have tournaments in the fall and spring. Those interested should contact Ms. Venisha Lee at wcflagfootball1@gmail.com.
NEW THIS WEEK: One of the upcoming WCFFL tournaments will be held on Saturday, October 4, and Sunday, October 5, at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. The tournament is still open and any schools looking to compete should contact Coach Venisha Lee at wcflagfootball1@gmail.com.
California Leading Flag Football Growth
The state of California is leading the growth in flag football. California accounts for nearly one-third (29%) of all high school flag football players. California's high school governing body, the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), reported an 84% year-over-year increase in girls' flag football participation. SFGATE detailed the numerous former NFL players who have helped propel the growth in the state, including Alex Smith, Drew Brees, Matt Leinart, and Steve Young.
Both Alex Smith (8 seasons) and Steve Young (13 seasons) played for the San Francisco 49ers. Drew Brees played five seasons with the then-named San Diego Chargers, while Matt Leinart played college football at the University of Southern California and one season with the then-named Oakland Raiders.
Coaching News
NEW THIS WEEK: Albright College (PA) named Eric Martin as the program's first head coach. Martin played collegiate football at the University of West Florida and was most recently the head coach of Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida. Albright will make its flag football debut during the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Benedictine University at Mesa (AZ) posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Benedictine Mesa also posted an opening for an assistant coach. The Redhawks will begin competing during the 2025-26 academic year as a member of the NAIA's Great Southwest Athletic Conference.
Caldwell University (NJ) has posted an opening for a part-time women's flag football head coach. Caldwell will add flag football beginning with the 2026-27 academic year.
Campbellsville University (KY) is seeking a part-time assistant flag football coach. The Tigers named Spencer McCown head coach in July 2025.
Clemson University (SC) is seeking coaching staff to help the club team out for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year. Those interested can fill out the Google Form here.
The College of Saint Mary (NE) will partner with Bechler Leadership in its search for a head coach. All questions and application materials (cover letter, resume, and 4 references) should be sent to search@bechlerleadership.com. Saint Mary will begin competition during the 2026-27 academic year.
The University of Delaware is looking for a volunteer coach to help the team for the 2025-26 academic year.
D'Youville University (NY) is seeking a graduate assistant to help the flag football team for the 2025-26 academic year. Those interested should contact head coach Jeff Weiss.
Eastern Connecticut State University (CT) posted an opening for the women's varsity flag football head coaching position. ECSU will begin competing during the 2026-27 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: Goldey-Beacom College (DE) named Tim Griffiths as the program's first head coach. The inaugural season at Goldey-Beacom will take place in the 2026-27 academic year.
Hartwick College (NY) is seeking a part-time assistant flag football coach for the 2025-26 academic year. Hartwick will play its first season in spring 2026.
Iona University (NY) is looking for a part-time head coach for the women's flag football team. Iona will compete as a club team beginning with the 2026 spring season.
NEW THIS WEEK: The University of Mount Olive (NC) announced the hiring of Markiese Majette as the program's offensive coordinator.
Penn State Harrisburg (PA) posted a job description for a part-time women's flag football assistant coach.
Penn State Schuylkill (PA) is seeking a part-time defensive coordinator. The Nittany Lions will compete in the NCAA Division III Atlantic East Conference in the 2026 spring season.
Radford University (VA) has posted the job description for the women's flag football club team. Radford announced the addition of a club team beginning with the 2025-26 academic year in May.
Rutgers University (NJ) is seeking coaches for its newly established flag football club team.
NEW THIS WEEK: Saginaw Valley State University (MI) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. SVSU will begin competing during the 2026-27 academic year.
Saint Joseph's University (PA) has posted an opening for the head coaching position of a women's flag football club team.
Saint Vincent College (PA) is seeking a flag football head coach. The college posted a job description for the head coaching vacancy. SVC currently sponsors flag football at the club level.
Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, Georgia, posted a job description for a flag football head coaching position. The school has not made a formal announcement about the addition of a program.
SUNY Old Westbury (NY) has posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Old Westbury is planning to have a varsity team by the start of the 2026 spring season.
Thomas University (GA) has an opening for its head coaching role after the departure of Chelsea Parmer earlier this month. The official posting can be found here.
Triton College (IL) has posted the application for the head coach vacancy. Triton will begin competing during the 2025-26 academic year.
NEW THIS WEEK: UT-Arlington (TX) posted the job description and application for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. UTA announced earlier this year that it will add a team for 2026-27, becoming one of six NCAA Division I schools to offer a varsity program.
NEW THIS WEEK: UW-Oshkosh (WI) has posted the job description and application for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. UW-Oshkosh is hoping to compete as soon as the 2026 spring season. The deadline to apply for the position is Monday, September 16.
Westminster College (MO) has posted a job description for a women's flag football head coaching position. Westminster will begin competing during the 2026-27 academic year.

Neumann University (PA) will host a pair of girls flag football skills clinics in September. The first will be held on Sunday, September 7, while the second will be a week later on Sunday, September 14. Both clinics will take place from 1 PM to 3 PM.
Cedar Crest College (PA) will host a flag football clinic on Saturday, September 13, from 9 AM to 2 PM. The clinic will take place on campus in Allentown, Pennsylvania
Keiser University (FL) will host the 2025 Seahawk Invitational on Saturday, September 20, and Sunday, September 21. The invitational is for official high school-sanctioned flag football teams and will be held at Samuel Friedland Park in Loxahatchee, Florida.
PRP (KY) is hosting a girls flag football college exposure camp on Saturday, September 20. The camp will take place from 11 AM to 3:30 PM at PRP High School in Louisville, Kentucky.
Virginia Wesleyan University (VA) will host a flag football prospect camp on Saturday, September 27, from 9 AM to 12 PM. The camp will be held on campus in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Florida Gateway College will host a flag football prospect camp on Saturday, October 4. The camp will take place at the school's football complex in Lake City, Florida, from 11 AM to 2 PM.
The Cincinnati Bengals will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Sunday, October 12. The location will be determined at a later date. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, September 15.
Keiser University (FL) will host a pair of girls flag football clinics in October and November. The first will take place on Sunday, October 12, while the second will take place on Sunday, November 9. Both clinics will run from 9 AM to 11 AM and be held at the KU multi-purpose field.
The Buffalo Bills will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Saturday, October 18. The tournament will be held at Sahlen's Sports Park in Elma, New York. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, September 22.
The Tennessee Titans will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Saturday, October 18. The tournament will be held at Centennial High School in Franklin, Tennessee. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, September 22.
NEW THIS WEEK: College of DuPage (IL) is hosting a recruit event for the class of 2026 on Sunday, October 19, from 10 AM to 12 PM. The event will allow recruits to meet coaches, view practice, tour the campus, and participate in a Q&A session. Those interested can fill out the Google Form here.
The Chicago Bears will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Saturday, October 25. The tournament will be held at Clarence Hicks Sports Complex in Rockford, Illinois. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, September 29.
The Las Vegas Raiders will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Sunday, October 26. The tournament will be held at Heritage Park in Henderson, Nevada. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, September 29.
The New York Jets will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Sunday, October 26. The tournament will be held at Anzaldi Park in Clifton, New Jersey. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, September 29.
The Indianapolis Colts will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Saturday, November 1. The tournament will be held at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 6.
The New Orleans Saints will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Saturday, November 1. The tournament will be held at the Shrine/Saints Facility in Metairie, Louisiana. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 6.
The Washington Commanders will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Saturday, November 1. The tournament will be held at the Fields at RFK in Washington, DC. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 6.
The New England Patriots will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Saturday, November 8. The tournament will be held at Forkicks Taunton in Taunton, Massachusetts. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 13.
The Dallas Cowboys will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Sunday, November 9. The tournament will be held at the Cowboys' practice facility (The Star) in Frisco, Texas. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 13.
The Los Angeles Chargers will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Sunday, November 23. The tournament will be held at Great Park in Irvine, California. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 27.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Sunday, November 23. The tournament will be held at the SouthShore Complex in Apollo Beach, Florida. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, October 27.
The Houston Texans will host an NFL Flag Regional Tournament on Saturday, December 6. The tournament will be held at Farm League Park in Spring, Texas. Registration for the tournament ends on Monday, November 10.
UPDATED THIS WEEK: Norco College (CA) will host a showcase camp on Saturday, December 6, from 11 AM to 2 PM. The camp will be attended by Arizona Christian (AZ), Aurora (IL), Benedictine Mesa (AZ), Golden West (CA), Hope International (CA), Irvine Valley College (CA), La Sierra (CA), Ottawa (AZ), Purdue Northwest (IN), Santiago Canyon College (CA), and Simpson (CA).
Ottawa University (AZ) will host a flag football recruit day on Saturday, December 6, from 9 AM to 3 PM. The experience will allow recruits to meet coaches, tour the campus, and participate in a few drills.
NEW THIS WEEK: Warner University (FL) will host a showcase camp on Saturday, December 6, in Lake Wales, Florida. The camp will take place from 9:30 AM to 3 PM and is open to players graduating between 2026 and 2029. Coaches from LaGrange College (GA), St. Thomas University (FL), and Wingate (NC) will be in attendance.
NEW THIS WEEK: Whittier College (CA) will host a showcase camp on Sunday, December 7, in Whittier, California. The camp will take place from 9:30 AM to 3 PM and is open to players graduating between 2026 and 2029. Coaches from Arizona Christian University, Golden West College (CA), and La Sierra University (CA) will be in attendance.
NEW THIS WEEK: There will be a showcase camp at Locust Grove High School (GA) on Sunday, December 14, in Locust Grove, Georgia. The camp will take place from 9:30 AM to 3 PM and is open to players graduating between 2026 and 2029. Coaches from Chowan University (NC), LaGrange College (GA), Reinhardt University (GA), and Wingate (NC) will be in attendance.
USA Flag will host the 2026 World Championships from Wednesday, January 14, through Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Tampa, Florida. The deadline to secure a spot is Friday, October 10. Teams can still register between October 11 and December 5, but will be placed on a waiting list.
Villa Maria College (NY) will have a women's flag football camp & showcase on Saturday, February 14, 2026, which will feature US Women's National Team member Izzy Geraci. The camp will take place from 12 PM to 2:30 PM at Villa Maria's athletic center in Buffalo, New York.
Howard Community College (MD) will host a spring flag football league in the Spring of 2026. Games will be played each Sunday, starting March 22, 2026, and the league will conclude on June 14, 2026.
Millersville University (PA) will host its 2nd annual girls flag football camp from Wednesday, June 24, through Sunday, June 28, 2026.
Great Southwest Sets Championship Dates
The Great Southwest Athletic Conference (GSAC) has set the dates for its inaugural Flag Football Championship. The GSAC will determine the conference champion over two days on Wednesday, April 16, 2026, and Thursday, April 17, 2026. The location of the championship will be announced at a later date. The GSAC is the third conference in the NAIA to sponsor flag football.
IFAF Americas Schedule
Last week, the IFAF released the group draw for the 2025 IFAF Americas Flag continental championships. This week, the schedule was finalized for the group matches. The US Women's team will play two games on Friday, September 12: at 8 AM Central Time, they'll face Colombia, followed by an 11:45 AM CT matchup against Brazil. On Saturday, September 13, the women will be in action at 10:30 AM CT against Jamaica and again at 2:15 PM CT versus Panama.
The semifinals, bronze medal match, and gold medal match will take place on Sunday, September 14. The women's semifinal games will be played at 9:15 AM CT, the women's bronze game will be at 1 PM CT, and the women's final will start at 3:30 PM CT. The top five teams will qualify for the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships in Düsseldorf, Germany.
NYT Profiles Flag Football
The New York Times profiled flag football's growing popularity in an article this week (possible paywall). The NYT piece discussed the NFL's role in the sport and the league's desire to see it become a sponsored high school sport in all 50 states. 17 states currently sanction flag football at the high school level.
SUNY Geneseo Flag Team Volunteers
The SUNY Geneseo (NY) flag football team volunteered at an event in Buffalo, New York, last week. Head coach Rob Currin and the Geneso players were volunteers at Johnnie B. Wiley Stadium for Damar Hamlin's Chasing M's Foundation Back to School event. The event included a flag football clinic, as well as lifesaving CPR instructions. Hamlin is a safety for the NFL's Buffalo Bills.
William Woods Spotlights Addie Chilek
William Woods University (MO) caught up with wide receiver/defensive back Addie Chilek as WWU will begin its second season. Chilek discussed the growth of the NFL Flag Championships since she competed in 2018, how the experience helped her play at the next level, and the decision to play for WWU. Chilek played in 13 games during the 2025 season, recording 52 receptions for 485 yards and 6 touchdowns. On defense, she had 41 flag pulls, 7 interceptions, and 14 passes defended. Chilek and William Woods will start the 2026 season against Southwestern College (KS) on Saturday, February 28.
