Welcome to the Memorial Day edition of the women's college flag football newsletter here at Collegiate Flag Football. We will look at the various stories and happenings across the sport over the last week, between Monday, May 18, and Sunday, May 24, 2026. NCAA Recommends Flag Football for Championship Status

The NCAA has formally recommended that all three divisions establish women's flag football as a championship sport. The vote will take place in January 2027, with the first championship expected to occur in spring 2028.

7 Additions This Week Plus 7 Club Changes

Citrus College (CA) will add a varsity women's flag football team beginning with the 2026-27 academic year and compete in the CCCAA/3C2A.

Daemen University (NY) will add a varsity women's flag football program beginning with the 2027-28 academic year. Daemen is the sixth team from the ECC to offer a club or varsity team.

Grace University (CA) will add a varsity women's flag football program beginning with the 2026-27 academic year and compete in the USCAA.

Hawaii Pacific University will add a varsity women's flag football team for the 2026-27 academic year. HPU is the second team from the PacWest to add the sport.

Manhattanville University (NY) will add a varsity women's flag football team beginning with the 2027-28 academic year. Manhattanville is the fifth Skyline school to add a club or varsity team.

North American University (TX) will add a varsity women's flag football program. The school did not confirm when it would begin competing.

Quincy University (IL) will also add a varsity women's flag football team beginning with the 2027-28 academic year. Quincy is the third team from the GLVC to add a team.

NIRSA added another six student-run club teams to its Women's Flag Football Club League for the 2026-27 academic year: Florida International University, Georgia College & State University, Indiana University, UCLA, the University of Arizona, and the University of Delaware.

The NCFA announced the addition of Sacred Heart University (CT) to its club flag football league for the 2026-27 academic year.

Albright College (PA) posted the job description for an assistant women's flag football coaching position. Albright named Eric Martin as head coach in September 2025, and the team will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.

Bethany College (WV) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should provide a resume, cover letter, and the names and contact information of three professional references to Anna Taylor at artaylor@bethanywv.edu with the subject line “Graduate Assistant for Flag Football.”

Binghamton University (NY) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Binghamton will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.

Caldwell University (NJ) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Caldwell will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.

Campbellsville University (KY) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should contact head coach Spencer McCown at psmccown@campbellsville.edu.

Charleston Southern University (SC) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should contact head coach Angela Villarreal-Ortiz via email at flagfootball@csuniv.edu.

Daemen University (NY) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position.

NEW THIS WEEK: Dickinson State University (ND) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching position. This job is for an intramural team.

Eastern University (PA) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should contact head coach Amanda Ruller via email at amanda.ruller@eastern.edu.

East Texas Baptist University is seeking a graduate assistant. Those interested should send their resume and a statement of faith to head coach Maddie Melton at mmelton@etbu.edu. ETBU will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.

Elizabethtown College (PA) posted the application form for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. Elizabethtown will begin competing during the 2027-28 academic year.

NEW THIS WEEK: Elmira College (NY) named Billy McCrae as the flag football program's next head coach. McCrae spent the previous two seasons on the coaching staff as an assistant and will take over for Savannah Terry. Elmira went 6-6 overall this season, reaching the NCAA Division III Empire 8 Conference Championship Game before losing to SUNY Brockport (NY) 36-31

NEW THIS WEEK: Fairleigh Dickinson University (NJ) named Logan Fuller as an assistant coach for the flag football team. FDU will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.

NEW THIS WEEK: Gardner-Webb University (NC) named Mike Brown as the program's inaugural head coach. Brown previously coached at Lees-McRae College (NC), helping build the program in 2025 and competing for the first time in the 2026 season. LMC went 11-8 in its first season, reaching the Conference Carolinas semifinal. GWU announced the addition of flag football in mid-February.

Gettysburg College (PA) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coach. Gettysburg will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.

The Guimond Vukovic Group (GVG) is offering postgraduate opportunities for athletes seeking a one-year master's degree in the United Kingdom. Scholarship opportunities are available for students with a GPA of 2.8 or higher. Athletes who wish to continue playing collegiate flag football, develop programs, build the sport internationally, or pursue coaching opportunities are encouraged to apply. GVG offers a free service to connect student-athletes with partner institutions in the U.K. The FAQ section on GVG's website provides additional information. This postgraduate opportunity is in the United Kingdom.

Hastings College (NE) is seeking a volunteer assistant coach for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should send a resume to head coach De'Andre Robinson at deandre.robinson@hastings.edu.

Indiana Wesleyan University is seeking assistant coaches for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should reach out to Jeff Reyes at jeff.reyes@indwes.edu. IWU will begin competing in the NAIA during the 2026-27 academic year.

Lawrence University (WI) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coach. Lawrence will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.

NEW THIS WEEK: Lees-McRae College (NC) head coach Mike Brown and assistant coach Troy Kruse have stepped down. Brown led LMC to an 11-8 overall record and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas semifinals in the program's first season.

Lindsey Wilson University (KY) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year.

Manchester University (IN) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Manchester has not officially announced the launch of a flag football program.

Marymount University (VA) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should contact head coach Michael Rivera at mrivera@marymount.edu and offensive coordinator Creed Hall at cahall@marymount.edu.

Messiah University (PA) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coach. Messiah has not officially announced the launch of a flag football program.

Montgomery County Community College (PA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Montco has not officially announced the addition of a varsity women's flag football program.

Neumann University (PA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Nellie Mixon led Neumann in the program's first two full seasons, going 13-16 overall.

NEW THIS WEEK: Newberry College (SC) named Kimberly Hernandez as a graduate assistant for the flag football program for the 2026-27 academic year. Newberry's flag football team will compete in the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas beginning with the 2026-27 academic year.

NEW THIS WEEK: North American University (TX) named Chelbi Curvey as head coach of the flag football program. Curvey played flag football as a student at Prairie View A&M University (TX) and coached flag football at James Madison High School. NAU announced the addition of flag football last week.

North Central Missouri College posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. Aulden Knight II guided NCMC during its first NJCAA season in spring 2026 before taking the head coaching position for the University of Michigan's club team.

NEW THIS WEEK: Pasadena City College (CA) named Charles Oakley as the inaugural head coach of the flag football program. PCC will begin competing during the 2026-27 academic year.

Penn State Schuylkill (PA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Schuylkill currently competes as an affiliate member of the NCAA Division III Atlantic East Conference.

NEW THIS WEEK: Point University (GA) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year.

Randolph College (VA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Randolph will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.

Saint Leo University (FL) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Eli Taliafero was the previous head coach, but resigned in May.

NEW THIS WEEK: St. Thomas University (FL) head coach Derek Duque has resigned after one season. The Bobcats went 11-7 in Duque's only season, which included an appearance at the NAIA Invitational.

SUNY Cortland (NY) is seeking volunteer coaches for its club team during the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should reach out to them via social media or contact Kathryn Brennan at kathryn.brennan@cortland.edu.

Talladega College (AL) posted the job description for the women's flag football club team head coaching position. Talladega has not officially announced the launch of a women's flag football team.

Trenholm State Community College (AL) posted the job description for a women's flag football coaching vacancy. TSCC has not officially announced the start of a flag football program.

United States Sports University (AL) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching vacancy. USSU hasn't officially announced a flag football program.

The University of Mount Olive (NC) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should submit an application, resume, and a minimum of three references to head coach Derrick Lucas at dlucas@umo.edu.

The University of Nevada is seeking a volunteer head coach for its women's flag football program. Those interested should reach out to the team via social media or email Jordan Katz at jordankatz@unr.edu. Nevada will compete as a club team beginning with the 2026-27 academic year.

NEW THIS WEEK: The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking volunteer coaches for the 2026-27 academic year. UNC Greensboro will have a club team.

The University of North Texas - Dallas posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching position. UNT Dallas has not officially announced the addition of a women's flag football team.

The University of West Alabama posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. West Alabama will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.

William Woods University (MO) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 academic year.

Wisconsin Lutheran College (FL) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. WLC will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.

Cleveland Browns Partner With Italy

The NFL's Cleveland Browns will partner with the Italian Federation of American Football (FIDAF) to help grow and develop football in Italy. The NFL granted the Browns the international marketing rights in the country. The main focus for the Browns will be to grow flag football at the youth level, along with helping the national team. Both the men's and women's national teams will compete at the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships this summer.

Frontier Conference Looking to Sponsor Flag Football?

The NAIA's Frontier Conference could begin sponsoring women's flag football in a few years, according to Mayville State University (ND) athletic director Rocky Larson. Mayville State is currently the only team in the Frontier to offer a club or varsity team, but Larson is hopeful that will change in the coming years.

Georgia Waiting to Add Flag Football

The University of Georgia is keeping a watchful eye on women's flag football, but is not planning to add the sport until "things stabilize" in college athletics. UGA athletic director Josh Brooks noted the growth of high school flag football in Georgia, but also cautioned that college athletics has numerous issues that need to be addressed before any sport is added. Georgia currently has a student-run club team, which competed at the inaugural Fiesta Bowl Flag Football Classic in April.

Kansas State Not Planning to Add Flag Football

Kansas State University is not planning to add flag football. The school's Athletic Director, Gene Taylor, made the statement last week. Taylor believes the additional scholarship commitment makes it unlikely for now. The Big 12 Conference is reportedly planning to sponsor flag football as soon as 2028, but KSU won't be one of the initial schools.

IFAF Signs Media Deal with DAZN, Releases World Champs Schedule

The International Federation of American Football (IFAF) and DAZN have agreed to a multi-year media rights deal that will allow IFAF events to be broadcast free of charge. One of those events will be this year's IFAF Flag Football World Championships, which is set to take place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from Thursday, August 13, through Sunday, August 16. The IFAF also released the schedule for the men's and women's World Championships.

The men's bracket will feature 12 group games on the first two days. Day three will see 16 games played to set up the championship game for Sunday, August 16. The women's bracket will have 16 group games on day one, followed by 8 group games and four bracket games on day two. The remaining first round and quarterfinal games, along with the semifinals, will be played on Saturday, August 15. The championship will take place on Sunday, August 16, right before the men's final.

NFL Pro Flag Leagues Launching in 2027

The NFL's professional flag football leagues will launch in "late spring-summer" of 2027, according to EVP Peter O'Reilly. The timeline was provided by O'Reilly on the Up & Adams Show hosted by Kay Adams.

SUNY Cortland Flag Football Wins Club of the Year

The SUNY Cortland (NY) women's flag football club team was named the school's sport club of the year for the 2025-26 academic year. The club team was established in 2024 by Sam Toscano, who is set to graduate this spring.

Three Conference Carolina Flag Football Teams Named Sportsmanship Award Winners

The NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas named its Team Messick Sportsmanship Awards for the 2025-26 spring semester. In women's flag football, three schools ended up sharing the honors: Barton College (NC), Mount St. Mary's University (MD), and Wingate University (NC). One student-athlete and coach from each school votes separately on the sportsmanship of all teams in the sport.

Washington Commanders Sponsoring High School Flag Football League in Virginia

The NFL's Washington Commanders will sponsor a girls high school flag football league in the Virginia cities of Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth, and Suffolk. The ultimate goal for Washington is to see the sport become a sanctioned high school sport in the state. The Commanders and Baltimore Ravens were instrumental in helping the athletic associations in the District of Columbia and Maryland sanction flag football in April. Virginia is the only part of the DMV that doesn't sponsor the sport, but that could change in the coming years.

Future Camps and Clinics

She Plays (AZ) is hosting a girls flag football college showcase and combine on Sunday, May 31, 2026. The showcase will be held from 9 AM to 12 PM in Chandler, Arizona. Arizona Christian University, Benedictine University at Mesa (AZ), Chowan University (NC), Grossmont College (CA), Lourdes University (OH), Mars Hill University (NC), Meredith College (NC), North Park University (IL), SCAD Savannah (GA), University of Arizona, University of Northwestern Ohio, and University of Redlands (CA) are expected to be in attendance.

Calhoun Community College (AL) is hosting a pair of flag football camps at the start of June. On Monday, June 1, a camp will be held from 9 AM to 12 PM for students in grades 3 through 8. On Tuesday, June 2, a camp will be held from 9 AM to 3 PM for 9th through 12th graders.

Nike is hosting a girls flag football camp in Atlanta, Georgia, from Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5. The camp is open to ages 8 through 18 and will be held at the Lovett School in Atlanta.

Nike is hosting a coed flag football camp in Rockford, Illinois, from Wednesday, June 3, through Friday, June 5. The camp is open to ages 7 through 14, and will be held at Clarence Hicks Memorial Sports Park in Rockford. Illinois College head coach Mark Grounds will be one of the camp coaches.

The University of South Carolina Upstate and the Carolina Panthers will host a Women's Flag Football Spartan Showcase on Thursday, June 4, from 9 to 11 AM. The Showcase is open to the first 150 high school students and will be held on campus at County University Stadium in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Eureka College (IL) will host a girls flag football clinic on Friday, June 5, from 11 AM to 1 PM. The clinic will be held in coordination with the Chicago Bears on campus in Eureka, Illinois.

Atlantis University (FL) will host a women's flag football prospect camp on Saturday, June 6. The camp will take place from 10 AM to 1 PM in Ives Estate Park, Florida.

Marian University (WI) will host a girls flag football camp on Saturday, June 6, from 2 to 4:30 PM. The camp will be held on campus in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and is open to grades 9 through 12 as of fall 2026.

The University of North Alabama will host a flag football camp on Saturday, June 6, from 9 AM to 11:30 AM, at Buccaneer Stadium in Hoover, Alabama. The camp is open to athletes in grades 9 through 12.

Barton College (NC) will host a pair of prospect camps on Sunday, June 7, and Saturday, June 13. The camps will be held from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Truist Stadium in Wilson, North Carolina. The camps are open to girls in 9th through 12th grade, as well as unsigned 2026 graduates.

The New England Patriots will host a flag football clinic on the campus of the University of Vermont on Sunday, June 7. The free clinic is open to girls in grades 7 through 12, and will take place from 2 to 6 PM at Virtue Field in Burlington, Vermont.

Meredith College (NC) will host a "Flag Under The Lights" development camp on Monday, June 8, from 7 to 8 PM. The camp is open to 9th through 12th graders, plus incoming college freshmen, and is aimed at receivers and running backs. The camp will be held on campus at the Meredith College Turf Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina. This camp will be held each Monday through July 6.

Meredith College (NC) will host a "Flag Under The Lights" development camp on Thursday, June 11, from 7 to 8 PM. The camp is open to 9th through 12th graders, plus incoming college freshmen, and is aimed at defensive backs and linebackers. The camp will be held on campus at the Meredith College Turf Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina. This camp will be held each Monday through July 9.

The University of Wisconsin-Stout will host a women's flag football prospect camp on Thursday, June 11, from 1:30 to 4:30 PM. The camp is open to students in grades 9 through 12 and will be held on campus at Williams Football Stadium in Menomonie, Wisconsin.

Thomas University (GA) will host a high school and college club team tournament on Friday, June 12, and Saturday, June 13. Teams will play up to four games across the two days.

Blackburn College (IL) will host a women's flag football prospect clinic on Saturday, June 13, from 9 AM to 12 PM. The clinic is open to athletes ages 14 through 18 and will be held on campus at the Blackburn Athletic Center in Carlinville, Illinois.

Glazier Clinics will host a free virtual coaches clinic on Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14. The clinic will cover topics such as program development, culture and leadership, offensive schemes, defensive schemes, fundamentals, game planning, and season planning.

Grace University (CA) will host a women's flag football prospect combine on Saturday, June 13. The camp will take place from 10 AM to 1 PM in Tustin, California.

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh will host The Titan College Showcase on Saturday, June 13, 2026. A campus tour will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 AM, followed by the camp from 12 to 4:30 PM. The camp will take place at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Winston-Salem State University (NC) will host a women's flag football individual skills camp on Saturday, June 13, from 10:30 AM to 3 PM. The camp is open to 9th through 12th graders and will be held on campus at the Old Lower Practice Field in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

NEW THIS WEEK: Indiana Wesleyan University will host a girls flag football prospect and development camp on Monday, June 15, from 1 to 4 PM. The camp is open to athletes in 9th through 12th grade and will be held on campus at Wildcat Football Stadium in Marion, Indiana.

Meredith College (NC) will host a "Flag Under The Lights" development camp on Monday, June 15, from 7 to 8 PM. The camp is open to 9th through 12th graders, plus incoming college freshmen, and is aimed at receivers and running backs. The camp will be held on campus at the Meredith College Turf Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina. This camp will be held each Monday through July 6.

Ventura College (CA) will host a flag football camp from Monday, June 15, through Thursday, June 18. The camp will be held daily from 9 AM to 12:30 PM and is open to boys and girls ages 5 through 14.

NEW THIS WEEK: The University of Illinois Springfield will host a girls flag football camp on Tuesday, June 16, from 10 AM to 2 PM. The camp is open to athletes in 9th through 12th grade and will be held on campus at the UIS Flag Football Field.

Meredith College (NC) will host a "Flag Under The Lights" development camp on Thursday, June 18, from 7 to 8 PM. The camp is open to 9th through 12th graders, plus incoming college freshmen, and is aimed at defensive backs and linebackers. The camp will be held on campus at the Meredith College Turf Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina. This camp will be held each Monday through July 9.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) will host a girls football mega camp on Thursday, June 18, from 1 to 5:30 PM. The camp is open to high school and college players and will be held on campus at the Legacy Pavilion.

Cumberland University (TN) will host a women's flag football College ID Camp on Saturday, June 20. The camp is open to 9th through 12th graders and will be held on Nokes-Laster Field in Lebanon, Tennessee.

Flag Prospect Series (FL) will host a girls flag football combine event on Saturday, June 20. The combine is open to athletes in graduating classes between 2027 and 2033. The event will be held at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida.

Holy Family University (PA) will host a girls flag football youth skills and talent ID camp on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21. The camp will take place from 9 AM to 2 PM both days and is open to students in grades 6 through 12. The camp will take place on campus at Tiger Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Richard Bland College (VA) will host a women's flag football prospect camp on Saturday, June 20. The camp will take place from 10 AM to 12 PM on campus in Prince George's County, Virginia.

NEW THIS WEEK: The University of Wisconsin Parkside will host a flag football summer camp on Saturday, June 20, from 12 to 3 PM. The camp is open to high school students as of fall 2026 and will be held in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

The College of Saint Benedict (MN) will host a flag football prospect camp from Monday, June 22, through Wednesday, June 24. The camp will be held from 9 to 11 AM daily and is open to 9th through 12th-grade students. The camp will be held at CSB's Turf Field in St. Joseph, Minnesota.

Meredith College (NC) will host a "Flag Under The Lights" development camp on Monday, June 22, from 7 to 8 PM. The camp is open to 9th through 12th graders, plus incoming college freshmen, and is aimed at receivers and running backs. The camp will be held on campus at the Meredith College Turf Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina. This camp will be held each Monday through July 6.

Millersville University (PA) will host its 2nd annual girls flag football camp from Wednesday, June 24, through Sunday, June 28, 2026. The camp will feature two-a-day practices, film review, evaluations, guest speakers, and strength and conditioning.

The University of North Alabama will host a flag football camp on Wednesday, June 24, from 9 AM to 11:30 AM, at Wetumpka Sportsplex in Wetumpka, Alabama. The camp is open to athletes in grades 9 through 12.

The University of South Florida will host a girls flag football camp in collaboration with Nike, from Wednesday, June 24, through Friday, June 26. The camp is open for ages 11 through 14 and will be held daily from 9 AM to 1 PM. The camp will be held at Fowler Field in Tampa, Florida.

The National Summer Showcase (VA) will take place from Wednesday, July 15, through Friday, July 17, in Williamsburg, Virginia. The showcase is by Invitation only, but athletes can be nominated. Numerous college head coaches from across the country will attend the Showcase.

Run For The Legacy (MD) will host a girls flag football tournament from Wednesday, July 15, through Saturday, July 18, in Baltimore, Maryland. College coaches from across the US will attend the event, which will also include a coaches' clinic. The registration deadline is Sunday, May 31.

The camp will run from 9 AM to 12 PM both days and is open to athletes from kindergarten through 12th grade. The International Flag League (formerly USA Flag) will host its 2027 National Championships in Tampa, Florida, on MLK weekend in January 2027. The dates are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, January 13, 2027, through Sunday, January 17, 2027.

The International Flag League (formerly USA Flag) will host its 2027 World Championships in Los Angeles, California, from Thursday, July 8, 2027, through Sunday, July 11, 2027. A collegiate division will be competing for the first time at the 2027 championships.
