NFL's Flag Football History Documented
Sportico looked at the NFL's investment in flag football and how it is starting to pay off. The article looks at the NFL's flag football start back in the 1990s as action sports and soccer began to gain popularity. The grassroots effort helped grow the sport until the early 2010s, when the player count began to dip. The NFL reinvested in flag football, particularly at the youth and high school levels, which has led to the subsequent rise in the collegiate space. The professional league is on the horizon, with its launch expected ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Read the full story here.

Push to Sponsor Flag Football in Wisconsin Continues
Girls flag football continues to grow, and many within the sport would like to see it become sanctioned by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA). The Green Bay Packers have funded programs and initiatives across the state, which has driven some of the sanctioning efforts. The WIAA's executive director, Stephanie Hauser, believes flag football will become a sanctioned sport, but did not provide a timeline on when it might happen. The WIAA requires at least 5% of members to participate in a sport during the same season before a sport can be considered for sanctioning. At least 10% of the members would need to sponsor flag football before it can become a championship sport to conduct a tournament.
