We will look at the various stories and happenings across the sport over the last week, between Monday, August 24, and Sunday, August 30, 2026. 2 Additions This Week, 4 Club Changes, 1 Future Change
High Point University (NC) and University of Virginia will compete in NIRSA's Women's Flag Football Club League for the 2026-27 academic year.
Manchester University (IN) will move from the NCAA Division III to the NAIA's Crossroads League beginning with the 2027-28 academic year.
Niagara University (NY) will compete in the National Club Football Association (NCFA) for the 2026-27 academic year. The NCFA also announced the 8 teams that will compete in the North Atlantic Conference.
Providence College (RI) will compete in the National Club Football Association's club league for the 2026-27 academic year.
Susquehanna University (PA) will add a women's flag football club team for the 2026-27 academic year and elevate the team to varsity status for 2027-28.
Texas A&M University-Kingsville will add a varsity women's flag football team beginning with the 2027-28 academic year. Kingsville is the first school in the NCAA D-II Lone Star Conference to add a club or varsity program.
2026-27 Season Starts
The NJCAA's Alabama Community College Conference got underway on Sunday. Shelton State, Southern Union State, and Wallace State all started 2-0, while Bishop State, Snead State, and Lurleen B. Wallace are at 1-1 after the opening weekend. The three undefeated teams outscored their opponents by a combined margin of 244-30.
2026-27 Scheduling News
Clemson University (SC) will host its 2nd TigerTown Showdown on Sunday, October 18, in Clemson, South Carolina. College teams interested in participating can register here.
The University of Florida announced that its 38th annual Swamp Bowl will take place from Friday, October 23 through Sunday, October 25. College teams interested in participating can register here.
The University of Georgia will host a one-day tournament on Saturday, October 11. The tournament will guarantee 3 games and is open to college club and varsity teams. College teams interested in participating can register here.
Bradley University (IL) and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX) are seeking opponents for the 2027 spring season. Details are provided in the table below.

The Guimond Vukovic Group (GVG) is offering postgraduate opportunities for athletes seeking a one-year master's degree in the United Kingdom. Scholarship opportunities are available for students with a GPA of 2.8 or higher. Athletes who wish to continue playing collegiate flag football, develop programs, build the sport internationally, or pursue coaching opportunities are encouraged to apply. GVG offers a free service to connect student-athletes with partner institutions in the U.K. The FAQ section on GVG's website provides additional information. This postgraduate opportunity is in the United Kingdom.

NEW THIS WEEK: Ottawa University (KS) named Jackson Mallory as an assistant coach for the women's flag football team. Mallory played five seasons for Ottawa's men's basketball team and spent two years as a graduate assistant.

Roanoke College (VA) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching position. Roanoke will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
Roxbury Community College (MA) posted the job description for a women's flag football assistant coaching position.
NEW THIS WEEK: Saint Leo University (FL) announced its women's flag football coaching staff for the 2026-27 academic year. Steven Searles will serve as head coach; Justin Crowe will serve as the offensive development coach; Darrin Walton will serve as the offensive strategy coach; John Reed will serve as defensive coordinator; Andrew Khan will serve as a defensive assistant; Brandon Tanner will oversee player development; and George Harding will serve as a graduate assistant.
San Bernardino Community College District (CA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. The position will be for either San Bernardino Valley College or Crafton Hills College. Neither school has officially announced a flag football program.
Shaw University (NC) posted the job description for a women's flag football assistant coaching position. Shaw will add women's flag football beginning with the 2026-27 academic year.
Simpson University (CA) is seeking assistant coaches for the women's flag football team in the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should contact head coach Jose Sanchez at jsanchez@simpsonu.edu.

St. Lawrence University (NY) posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching vacancy. St. Lawrence will begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year.
SUNY Cortland (NY) is seeking volunteer coaches for its club team during the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should reach out to them via social media or contact Kathryn Brennan at kathryn.brennan@cortland.edu.
Tiffin University (OH) posted the job description for a women's flag football club team head coaching position. Tiffin has not officially announced a flag football program. The school also posted a description for the men's flag football club team opening.
Union College of Union County (NJ) posted job descriptions for a women's flag football head coach and an assistant coach. UCNJ has not yet announced the addition of a women's flag football program.
United States Sports University (AL) posted the job description for a women's flag football head coaching vacancy. USSU hasn't officially announced a flag football program.

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking volunteer coaches for the 2026-27 academic year. UNC Greensboro will have a club team.
The University of North Texas at Dallas posted a job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. UNT Dallas will begin competing in the 2026-27 academic year.
Washington Adventist University (MD) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position.
Webber International University (FL) is seeking an assistant coach/defensive coordinator, volunteer assistant coaches, and graduate assistants for the 2026-27 academic year. Those interested should reach out via social media or send a resume to head coach Collin Johnson at JohnsonCB@webber.edu.
Westfield State University (MA) posted the job description for the women's flag football head coaching position. Westfield State will launch a club team for the 2026-27 academic year and transition the team to varsity status in 2027-28.

Conference Carolinas Sets 2027 Championship Dates
The NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas will host the 2027 women's flag football championship from Friday, April 16, through Sunday, April 18, at Durham County Memorial Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. The quarterfinals will be played on Friday, April 16; the semifinals will take place on Saturday, April 17; and the championship will be played on Sunday, April 18. A dozen teams will compete for 8 spots in the Conference Carolinas during the 2027 spring season.
Cumberland Stops By Tennessee Titans Training Camp
The women's flag football team at Cumberland University (TN) visited the Tennessee Titans training camp on Friday, August 23. The Titans have been helping grow flag football across the state, with Cumberland among seven collegiate programs in Tennessee. The Phoenix made their flag football debut during the 2026 spring season, going 8-15 overall, with Marley Hyde receiving NAIA First-Team All-American Honors.
High School Flag Football Participation Skyrockets
Girls flag football participation continues to skyrocket, according to the latest data from the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS). Girls flag football participation increased by 49%, with the number of girls playing flag football rising from 68,847 to 102,360 for the 2025-26 school year. The NFHS reported that nearly 4,000 schools offered flag football last year, increasing nearly 46% from the previous school year.
iFlag and College Football Playoff to Host Showcase
iFlag and the College Football Playoff are partnering to host the CFP Flag Football Showcase in January 2027. The inaugural showcase will take place from Friday, January 22 through Sunday, January 24, in Las Vegas, which will also host the 2027 CFP National Championship. The showcase will include a college showcase, featuring 4 varsity teams and 8 club teams. Additional details regarding the college showcase will be provided later.
NCAA Division I Adopts 25-Player Roster Limit
The NCAA Division I Board of Directors adopted emergency legislation that sets women's flag football rosters at 25 players. Under the June 2025 settlement in House v. NCAA litigation, roster limits apply to schools and conferences that opt into the settlement. This roster limit applies only to NCAA Division I. NCAA D-II has an equivalency limit of 10 scholarships, but does not impose a roster limit. NCAA D-III does not offer athletic scholarships and does not impose a roster limit.
NFL Flag Football Updates
The NFL has scrapped its Pro Bowl event effective with the upcoming season. From 2023 through 2026, the Pro Bowl had featured a flag football game between the AFC and NFC. While the Pro Bowl will no longer be played, the NFL noted, "Flag football events highlighting multiple levels of the sport will also take place across Pro Bowl weekend and Super Bowl week in Los Angeles."
Last week, it was reported that over 200 NFL players were interested in competing in the 20208 Los Angeles Olympics. Front Office Sports is reporting that the NFL and NFLPA are negotiating the specifics that will allow players to pursue the Olympics. Some issues that will be determined include field surface standards, medical care, injury protections, and salary cap financials in the event of an injury.
Park's Flag Football Journey
The Kansas City Star chronicled the start of Park University's (MO) flag football team and head coach Krishna Lee's path to the head coaching position. Park played for both the Mexico and US flag football national teams, winning the 2022 IFAF Flag Football World Championships at the end of her career. She played tackle football for the KC Glory of the Women's National Football Conference (WNFC) and served as general manager before taking over the Park program.
The Star reports that school administrators discussed flag football for a year before announcing a new flag football program in June 2026. Lee wrote to the Park athletic director in 2023 that the school should start a program, and she would like to run it. Park will play at Julian Field, which is also the home for the school's men's and women's soccer teams.
Lee hopes to have 15 athletes for the 2026-27 academic year, mostly from other sports. Lee and Park administrators are looking to help build support from the community, as it has for the men's volleyball team. Park will compete in the NAIA's Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC), with expectations to be in the top half of the standings.
TMRW Sports Adds Izzy Geraci as Ambassador
TMRW Sports announced US women's flag football national team star Izzy Geraci as a professional flag football ambassador. Geraci has been a mainstay on the team for the last three years, helping the US women's national team win gold at the 2024 IFAF Flag Football World Championship, silver at the 2025 World Games and 2026 IFAF World Championship, and bronze at the 2025 IFAF Americas Continental Championship.
TMRW named Ashlea Klam as the first professional flag football ambassador at the end of June. Earlier in August, TMRW added Vanita Krouch as an athlete ambassador and player liaison for the new men's and women's professional flag football league. Geraci becomes TMRW's third ambassador, with more announcements expected in the coming months.
TMRW will be the operator for the new pro flag football leagues, which are set to launch in "mid-late summer" 2027, although that timeline is subject to change. TMRW and the IFAF announced a strategic partnership in June. Two weeks later, the venue concept for the first professional flag football season was reported. It was also revealed that the first season will be held in one city. Populous will be the architect for the modular venue, while Transwestern will oversee the host city selection process. Brendan Donohue was named the inaugural president of the leagues at the end of July, followed by Champ Kelly as a senior vice president.
UCLA's Tenley Hill Profiled by NIRSA
UCLA women's flag football club team player Tenley Hill spoke to NIRSA about her journey. Hill helped build the UCLA club team, including recruiting fellow students, scheduling practices, and increasing the club's visibility on campus. UCLA will compete in NIRSA's Women's Flag Football Club League during the 2026-27 academic year, alongside more than 50 other club programs.

Elmira College (NY) will host a flag football prospect day on Sunday, September 13, from 10 AM to 3 PM. The camp is open to 9th through 12th graders and will be held on campus at the football field in Elmira, New York.
Cedar Crest College (PA) will host a women's flag football prospect camp on Sunday, September 19, from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The camp is open to high school athletes. The camp will be held on campus in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Lawrence University (WI) will host a women's flag football visit day on Saturday, September 19. Lawrence will spend the 2026-27 academic year recruiting, followed by competition in 2027-28.
Campbellsville University (KY) will host the Dart Queen Showcase on Saturday, September 26, from 10 AM to 1 PM. The showcase is open to athletes ages 10 through 18. The showcase will be held on campus at the football field in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
Lindsey Wilson University (KY) will host a flag football elite showcase on Saturday, September 26, from 10 AM to 2 PM. The showcase is open to athletes in grades 6 through 12 and will be held on campus at Parnell Family Stadium in Columbia, Kentucky.
NEW THIS WEEK: St. Thomas University (FL) will host a women's flag football prospect camp on Saturday, September 26, from 10 AM to 12 PM. The camp will include combine testing, position-specific training, live scrimmage reps, and a campus tour. The camp will be held on campus in Miami Gardens, Florida.
The Cleveland Browns (OH) will host an NFL FLAG Super Regional on Saturday, October 3. The tournament will be held at the Forever Lawn Sports Complex in Canton, Ohio. The registration deadline is Monday, August 31.

Meredith College (NC) will host a women's flag football prospect camp on Saturday, October 10, from 10 AM to 12 PM. The camp is open to athletes in grades 9 through 12 and will be held on campus at the Meredith College Athletic Turf Facility in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Las Vegas Raiders (NV) will host an NFL FLAG Regional on Sunday, October 11. The tournament will be held at Heritage Park in Henderson, Nevada. The registration deadline is Monday, September 7.

The International Flag League (formerly USA Flag) will host its 2027 National Championships in Tampa, Florida, on MLK weekend in January 2027. The dates are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, January 13, 2027, through Sunday, January 17, 2027.
